one of my favorite simpsons moments is definitely appropriate today.

In some random related knowledge, The Kurgan also voices Mr. Krabs in Spongebob (a recent hit with8th my daughter).
If there was ever an actor that I wouldn't be surprised to find out they have a barn full of dead bodies, it would be Clancy Brown. Love most of the work he has done, but damn that dude just gives me the creeps.

Honorable mentions for creepiest actors go to Crispin Glover and the dude from Re-Animator whose name I can't remember right now.

Edit:Re-Animator guy is Jeffrey Combs...awesome in The Frighteners.

I initially thought you were talking about Son of Busey

Agreed guy is creepy and Frighteners is a pretty underrated (and sadly forgotten) flick.
It's definitely one I really enjoy introducing to people that haven't seen it.

Back on topic...

I don't remember if it has been mentioned in this thread, but Archer has got to be my favorite comedy on TV right now. The show is absolutely brilliant.

Do you get QI in the US?

It's been going a while in the UK. It's about trivia/miscellany, dispelling myths (not in a Myths Busters way), with a panel of comedians.

Great show but a bit tweedy. Perfect for smart asses who love to prove everyone wrong!

Just got caught up on the final two episodes of Justified. For anyone who hasn't finished it up I'll use spoiler tags

Looks like Boon was faster than Raylan, but got cocky with the headshot. Earlier Boon had killed that kid and mentioned the headshot vs. the body shot being slower to do. But then when he's pulling on Raylan he goes for the headshot and takes a bodyshot in return. Had Boon also gone for the body shot it appears he would've won, but because he went for the head he lost by the slimmest of margins.

Also found it too fantastical with Boyd the last few episodes. He's almost blown up in the mine, then he takes a bullet to the chest, then he's almost blown up by dynamite and through it all he isn't hampered and is able to run and gun, squaring off against a ton of cops as he flees up the mountain.

And lol @ Duffy and his Mobile Pet Grooming truck

I know I'm way late to the party. I'm about halfway through the first season of "The Shield". WOW.........just damn wow!!!!

I was hooked (and blown away) after episode 1.

i can't say that it stays on an constantly upward trajectory, but it is very good throughout and ends as well as any series i've ever seen. i'm envious you're starting from the beginning.

unfortunately, silicon valley might be falling from "great" to "good". i'm not ready to say for sure after only one episode, but i was a bit underwhelmed by the premiere. hopefully it gets some of its spark back as it moves forward through the season.

came back to this thread to say that silicon valley did indeed improve immensely from the first episode of the season. i've loved where it's gone and it's probably on par with season one at this point imo. great show.

I went into the series thinking the Vic character was a "good guy"..............wow............wrong on that account.

i won't editorialize in a way that might spoil it even a bit for you, but i'll be interested to hear your take at various points through the series.

Sounds good sir. I watched episode 7 while on the treadmill this morning. Going to try and finish season 1 this weekend.

Jeez, I feel so left out. Of all the current and recent series named so far, I have seen exactly none. When we visit my brother, they sometimes have Big Bang Theory on. I hear one burst of the laugh track and want to head outside.

I guess we're not big TV people. The only current TV series we record and watch are the Daily Show and Louie, plus occasional cooking and travel shows. Everything else is sports -- right now it's the French Open, around the clock.

Maybe if we upgrade to a color TV or something larger than our twelve-incher that will change...anyone want to buy a Dumont console? It has a huge speaker, and all the tubes are almost new...

we could start a "what not to watch" thread. this would be at the top for me.

I've started watching Wayward Pines. Finding it intriguing - kind of reminds me of how I felt with Twin Peaks and Lost. Just really interested to see where it's going...
Ditto. Wanna see. And Carla Gugino is a babe :)

Got through an episode and a half of wayward pines and couldn't take it. I thought it trended much closer to rip off than homage to twin peaks and a few other shows.

although this thought i can get behind. saw San Andreas this weekend and it was a bit bag of shit, but she was looking pretty great.

If I go watch it, it will be only b/c of Carla.

Anyone watch the Dusk From Dawn series from the El Ray network? I thought it was very well done. You wouldn't think it would be possible to make a series out of the movie. They did, and imo they were successful at it.

Season 2 is in the works. I'm looking forward to it. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/71758

a breaking bad reunion on twitter a couple days ago. dean norris' contribution is my favorite.

I'm nearing the end of Season Three of The Shield. S1 kicked ass. I thought S2 was a little bit of an over all let down. Season three is right back on par imo. I think I have two episodes left. A very entertaining police drama.

i might be overestimating how reliably that show turned in good episodes because of how strongly it went out, but i don't remember a ton of dead spots. just had to look up to see that season 2 was the money train season, though, so obviously i don't remember the specifics too well.

hope you love it the rest of the way - definitely due for a rewatch by me.

Season 2 wasn't bad. It just didn't live up to the expectations that season 1 had set forth. S3 has been rock solid. With only two episodes left I'll probably finish it on SAT (damn dinner tonight with the parents).
