Anyone been following Masters of Sex?

Michael Sheen (turns in Underworld and Twilight excepted) is a great actor imo. He's played some pretty diverse roles, including Kenneth Williams, David Frost, Tony Blair, to name a few.

We're deep in the US summer schedule lull about now aren't we? On the lookout for fresh recommends if anyone has any...

I watch the first two seasons. I really liked S1. S2 was "meh". I plan on watching S3, just haven't gotten around to starting it yet.

Another summer show to watch is Ray Donovan. Its not great. It is entertaining.

Just finished "Strike Back". Awesome. Recommended. Lots of gunblazing. LOTS!

Not sure if I have mentioned the show ITT, but is anyone else watching Rick and Morty? The funniest animated show on TV right now IMO. The 2nd season just started a couple of weeks ago. Seeing the 1st season isn't necessary, but seeing the 1st season finale would definitely help.

Finished Season 4 of the Shield. Binge watched the last 5 episodes (hangover from the poker tourney the night before).

Seasons 3 and 4 were excellent. I might start Season 5 tonight since the wifey works late (she isn't a fan).

I just started watching "The Vikings". I can highly recommend it. Our fellow Norsemen are raiding the european territory
in early medieval times. Episode 9 of Season 1 going on now.

Man, it reminds me so much Sons of Anarchy, one of my all time favorite series. Travis Himmel looks just like Charlie Hunnam.
Ragnar and Rollo in The Vikings are just like Jax and Opie in SOA. Ragnar and Jax are both kind of like fair leaders towards
their people, but harsh and rough if need be. Both series has a brotherhood of men, who watches each others back, while
still fighting and also killing each other. And the body counts in both series are huge. And of course, both series has a bunch
of women, who get, well, laid-a-lot.

You can see the twins below:

If you haven't watched The Vikings yet. Do so. Like...yesterday !!!

Loving it.

I watched exactly one episode and wasn't thrilled with it. I guess I should give it a bit longer, lol.

Just finished S6 of The Shield. WOW..........this is a great show. I'm very saddened that I only have one more season to watch.

like detroit, i caught a glimpse, but haven't really given it time. thanks for the reco, pug - will give it a chance.

re: the shield, you'll love season 7. it's probably either tied for my favorite or is my second favorite season of the show.

I would say the first two episodes are not that good, but you will get hooked with the next few episodes. Myloves Shield too. It's awesome. I never thought Chiklis could be so mean and bad muthafucka :)

You're welcome Sire ;)

The show in its entirety has been pretty damn good. I think S2 was maybe my least favorite. Only marginally.

Just finished both seasons of Wentworth and almost through Season 1 of Peaky Blinders. I would recommend both.

What network televises this? maybe I'll have to give it a shot once I'm caught up.

Thanks

Strikeback is on Cinemax in the states. I used to watch it before i downsized my premium channels to only HBO last year. First 2 seasons were very good, though.

I have been diggin the UK shows lately. Recently the first season of Humans and now watching S2 of Orphan Black on VOD. My viewing skews more on the sci-fi stuff, though. Also watching Mr. Robot.

Looking forward to Billions on Showtime coming out in January. Stars Damian Lewis, who is awesome in everything he is in (Life got cancelled way too early), and Paul Giamatti.

I liked the first two seasons of orphan black. Third season not so much

Anyone watching Hand of God on Amazon? The pilot episode is free to watch here on Amazon even without Prime. It's gotten mediocre to negative reviews, but I'm halfway through it and I've thought it was interesting enough to keep going.

Trailer:

Finished all 7 seasons of The Shield. I thought the show just kept getting stronger and stronger as it neared the end. Hated watching the last episode knowing that there wasn't anymore for me to watch.

glad you liked it, though honestly i never had any doubt you would. that last episode - i keep trying to think if there's any series finale that rivals it and i don't think there is. so perfect and so true to the story and characters.

i started rewatching it again myself and it is strong from the beginning.

I thought S2 felt a little all over the place. That is just nitpicking. Its a top show of all time for me. Just wow..........your right. The series finale was awesome. I think I watched the final 8 episodes over two days. Just couldn't stop watching it.

I've moved onto West Wing. I had never seen it before (I missed a lot of movies/shows from the mid 90's through 2010 coaching sports and young kids and shit).

Anyways, I'm three episodes in and I really like it. I decided to give this a shot based on The Newsroom/Sorkin.

it's weird - i think basically every show sorkin has ever been involved in has been so over written and horrible. it just sounds false and irritating that i can't bear it for more than a couple episodes. but i've loved several of his film scripts: a few good men; bulworth; the social network (dialogue is annoying imo, but intended to be so because zuckerberg is a fucking twat); and most of all moneyball.

in addition to the above, i found the west wing to be pretty the worst kind of art: self-congratulatory, condescending, blow-hard bullshit. if sorkin had his druthers, i'm sure all those characters with their righteous and perfect worldviews would have ended up with their heads in their own laps in the finale, going to town on their respective anatomy.

I respect your opinion. However, my son and I both really like Newsroom and West Wing. I don't mind his style whatsoever.

Yeah I know I'm in the significant minority. Just personal preference.
