Oh boy. If you’ve never owned a Lab just know that you are in for it… for 3-4 years. Keep them tired and they will stay out of trouble.

I miss my Labs. They lived to be 12 and 13 but cancer got them both. Now we have “easier” dogs. Lol

But Labs are wonderful dogs once they grow out of the puppy phase.

I don’t think I have vocabulary to explain how utterly mental beagles are. The lab is a dream in comparison! Will get plenty of exercise in the future. Having the fire on of an evening is always a great dog tamer too

This is truth. Its a good thing lab puppies are so cute or they’d be in big trouble. Tired and well trained is a good recipe for a perfect dog from age 3 to 12. At 12 they start reverting again. My 12 year old girl does what she wants now but I can't get too mad at her.

@tabletalker7 : sorry for your loss. What was her name?
Her name is Soysauce - don't let the kids name your dog when they want chinese food.

She had a bacterial lung infection and last week the vet gave her 2 IV bags of antibiotics and sent us home with more to hide in her food. We brought her back when we ran out of pills and wow the pills didn't help. There wasn't anything we could do anymore. One lung had collapsed from the infection and the other wasn't doing much better. I just wish we could have done more. She deserved a better outcome than this.
