I received the box day before yesterday, courtesy of @Mr. Cheese Thanks, Dan, for the triple-super-secret multiple armored box!

Coming up on one full year of wandering around. Kinda fun to look through the odd assortment of chips, but IMO, to be honest, there's nothing there that's worth the postage. And I see that small black button/blinds timer is still in there!

One question: where did the Yaesu Radio baseball caps, etc. come from, and what's the connection to poker chips? I mean, I happen to own a couple of Yaesu 2m handhelds and a Yaesu sw/vhf receiver, but I don't get it.

Apart from those items, I'll be re-packing the box with a few new items, and getting it on the road again, in about a week.
During this week, please let me know if you'd like to remain on or be added to the list, The minimum requirements for eligibility are 100 PCF posts and one year of PCF membership. If you don;'t meet those requirements, you might coordinate with someone you know (and who knows you) and is near you who is on the list, to get a whack at it.

When you receive the box, please try to get it out on the road again within one week!

The current list is:

AK Chip
Brains613
Tommy
David O
PhilLaFond
Ronoh
manamongkids
Blaster
72o
k9dr
kmccormick100
12thMan
bonesnjnts
SixSpeedFury
MrCheese

The new list will consist of those on the above list who indicate interest, either in this thread or by pm/email to me, followed by new additions.

Thanks!

Im interested to be kept on the list, need to give people the boot who take several weeks to reship

.

Thanks!
I'm a Yaesu Dealer.
When the box got to me, & I needed to add some packing material to keep stuff from moving, the promo ballcaps ect made for more interesting / useful "packing material" than using newspaper or whatever .. I figured it could be taken or removed as needed if the box got more full or whatever :)

Just curious why you're keeping it going, if there isn't anything in there worth the price of shipping?

By all means, keep it going. I was just a curious princess.

I do not mind staying on. I think you can clean out the items that are not needed and start the process again. I am sure the folks before me will load it up with plenty of Las Vegas items for me!

I'll stay on just because and am with David O in saying feel free to scrap paper cards and other items you deem to be just taking up space.

You can take me off the list Larry. I think the new requirements are a good idea.

Thanks!

I didn't want to say anything, but I agree. When I received it, it was lackluster at best. I threw in all those MSK and Matsui plaques in just so that the next in line looked forward to getting something better. It was cool in theory, but flopped. I think it would work best as a care package for the noobs that join PCF.

I agree with everybody else, i was surprised at what was in it. I would love to know what got taken out before it got to me vs what got put in just because it seemed like a box that wouldn't come from poker chip collectors. There are for SURE some very nice and generous things in there, and it would be kind of unrealistic to expect to see racks of mint trk chips to choose from....But I definitely thought it woild be better. It was like trying to find sething nice in a Spencers Gifts at the mall, maybe it was there but there was a lot of dick shaped keychains and truck testicles to get through before you found it... ;)

I got rid of like 6 decks of paper cards and a few of the four(!) same dealer puck/blind timer things, not that somebody couldn't use one of those but there were four! I didn't take anything for myself, unless you count what I was told to throw away in regards to paper cards for space saving reasons, and I tried to add a few things a chipper might enjoy or find useful like a sample speed cloth swatch, a few custom high hand plaques, a sample set or two...I am curious to see the box now, for that reason alone I want to be on the list still. I think we could do a tiny bit better and if we can't then I agree this could bece a newbie care package type thing.

Still a cool idea/experiment though, and I like getting mail, so let's keep it rolling!

To the participants, have you considered some sort of Secret Santa/Pollyanna type of thing? Every so often (i.e. monthly, quarterly, etc), you draw a new person and send some goodies (pre-defined value), receiving some in return. Similar concept as the box, but with a more personal touch and less reliance on others to ship out timely. In addition, everyone on the list gets gifts concurrently, so there is no extended waiting that could result in a lack of interest.

....I threw in all those MSK and Matsui plaques in just so that the next in line looked forward to getting something better.

One of those plaques is interesting -- a green 25K MSK. One of the two green outer layers is about 1/8 inch out of position toward one end. I wonder if the adhesive used to join the three layers failed due to the box getting too hot during shipping?

Dan (@Mr. Cheese ), did you notice that plaque when you re-packed the box?

Yeah I noticed that too. Kind of interesting to see the different layers

What are the requirements/guidelines for chip-related items that are put in the box?
@pltrgyst - still hoping for an answer to the question before I make a decision on participating. What are the guidelines on what should/shouldn't be put into the box? How much should our inclusions be worth?

I sure others will reply ...
But in general, put in at least in value of what you take (or more), honor system, avoid putting in decks of paper cards, dice and other cheap / slugged chips, used poker magazines, things that will unnecessarily weigh down the box or cause no room for interesting items, & generally things that "no one wants" ....

I'll join up if y'all will have me.

Cigars count as a poker item, yes? :whistling:

Larry, did the second go around start? I know you are vacation so if not it really is not a big deal. Just wondering!

No -- mea culpa here. I was waiting for a couple of promised contributions that never arrived. I'll get it out asap when we get home next week.
