Lars, I totally get you wanting to play with the chips that look the best to you.
Ceramics like the WSOP you were looking at have upsides and downsides.
Upsides are - relatively cheaper than clay, easier to clean, no worries about labels popping off, decent feel and sound
The main downside is quality. There are some ceramic sets that are great in quality and there are some that just meh.
In terms of quality, I talk about 2 things. One is print quality. The design of the chip is dyed(?) right onto the chip and depending on the design of the chip and the manufacturing process you can often see imperfections in the printing due to resolution issues either with the source image or the maybe limitations of the printing equipment.
The other is in the construction of the chip itself. If you look in videos by hobbyphilic on Youtube he often reviews ceramics and he shows by pinching the edges of a stack of ceramics and spinning said stack how QC inconsistencies make taller stacks a little unstable.
I have 3 ceramic sets, the Laurel design, the EPT themed, and the 43mm Slowplay ceramics, which are by far the best. You can buy them directly from
Amazon in the exact denominations you want an with matching themed Plaques as well.
Most importantly with the Slowplays is you can get them in 43mm, which is not only neat but I think helps with quality and stability issues as well.
Hope this helps you about ceramics.
One thing about evaluating samples of ceramics is while you can evaluate aesthetics with a single sample, you will want a stack of maybe 10-20 to do pinch and spin tests.
IMHO, the Majestics are bulletproof in terms of quality, some of the best short of Paulson and maybe
CPC chips, and are good value for money. Good investments.
