Like many others here this set was motivated by the CPC announcement and the chance that you may not be able to order anything like it again in the future.

I have one custom set that was ordered back in 2005 from ASM when we first convinced them to offer spot options other than 312 with a group buy back in the Chiptalk days. I have always been a little envious of the vast amount of edge spot options that were available currently but, never motivated enough to do anything about it until now.

Of the many hobbies I have there are two that I do every week, play poker and Magic The Gathering. I wanted a custom set that brought the two of those together. Black inlays weren't that big of a thing back when my first order was placed and I have seen so many excellent designs since then using them that I knew I wanted to go with black inlays for this set. I also knew that I wanted to concentrate on colors that were not used in my previous set and edge spots that were not options for my first order. I really liked the simplicity of the Majestic inlays from Apache. I wanted to use that as a frame of reference and incorporate the Magic theme with that framework. White, blue, black, red, and green are all a major part of the game so I wanted to have the workhorse chips using those colors. Ravnica is a major setting within the Magic universe so that was the origin of the name. The symbol on the front comes from one of the Magic sets and the reverse sides are all mana symbols used in the game. I wanted a NCV chip for a fractional chip in case games and also a bounty chip in tournaments. The X is a big variable symbol in Magic so using it on the NCV chip was a no-brainer. I knew I wanted to use 1" inlays so my mold selection was based on what would support it. None of the molds have a particular tie in to the theme so I went with the A mold over the other options simply based on the fact that it would have been 20% more to go with Ewing or scrown. That's not an insubstantial amount and I like the A mold. I know some here don't care for it but I do. A huge thanks to @mattross1313 for being able to take the ideas I had as a jumble of images and put them together into something that I love the look of!

Of all of these chips the purple is the only base color that doesn't tie into Magic in anyway but I loved the look of the chip and threw it in. The second 25 and the 5000 were afterthoughts because I had enough chips to be able to do two more designs. For the 5000 I had really wanted to have a tri-moon chjp in there somewhere but couldn't work it in so it got tacked on as a 5000. The second 25 came about becasue I had one more design available and really want to get butterscotch somwhere in the set.

My apologies for the large amount of images. I didn't have the patience to put them into one. Happy to hear any thoughts or feedback.

Would’ve been interesting to more specially base it around the guilds like using the five allied or enemy color combos.
Yeah. I had given it some thought. Colors were really done before the theme was 100% decided and some of the guild color combos already exist in my other set and I wanted to stay away from them. I had thought about guild symbols but really wanted to keep it to the mana symbols.

I like your chips and labels hower I find any solid backgrounds could be spiced up even if it's just as simple as a grid or diamond pattern. I'm no graphic artist but here's what I mean.

Thanks. Nice idea. Will have to give it some additional thought.
