I apologize if this is technically the wrong forum but there's a few this could possibly fit into so I figured to be safe I'd drop it here. I'm highly considering buying custom ceramic chips from abcgiftsandawards.com, specifically these: http://www.abcgiftsandawards.com/ultimatepokerchampionschips.htm

Maybe I haven't done the best job of looking but I haven't seen reviews of these anywhere and I'm really wondering things about them (texture, sound, feel, etc.) and sampling does not appear to be an option, so I was wondering if someone could either give me some inside info on them or perhaps direct me to somewhere there might be a review(s) of them somewhere, as I have not been successful thus far. Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

Order the samples. One of the UPC chips is in the sample set. As to feel etc., (confirm this with Gene at ABC) I believe the chip blanks are all the same.

ABC is one of a very few companies manufacturing chips. There are many re-sellers out there, not many manufacturers.

I've ordered many chips from ABC and my personal opinion is they are second to none. (Chip Co fans feel free to pile on!)

I must have somehow missed where you can get a sample set on the website, so this basically is all I need. Thanks. I'm wondering if all the designs are done on the exact same chip? (Meaning they look different but all their designs have the same dimensions and material)

That is correct, with the *possible* exception of the Nevada Jacks line - I'm not sure if the NJ's use a different blank, or if the only thing that's different w/them is the textured overlay. That wouldn't apply to the chips you're talking about, though. The samples you get will be representative of what would be used on the UPC chips.

I've got a few samples from ABC and the blank they use is great. You can buy from Gene/ABC with confidence!

I have a few samples from ABC, and they are quite different from other ceramics you typically see. The edges are typically more square than other makes, and they have a distinct feel. In my opinion, they are on the same blank with different designs. However, I don't know if that applies to the Nevada Jacks line they have.

Up until this weekend, I had their Rebuy chips as well (sold them to another host in our league).

As for the quality compared to other makes, they are on par with them. Each make (ChipCo, GOCC, ABC, Sunfly) have their own characteristics. I'm generally a fan of GOCC andChipCo, but ABC chips are very tempting to me as well. All in all, they make an excellent chip. And ABC is excellent to deal with.

Have to see when they come in. From what I've seen of reviews, Nevada Jacks have the best sleekness and sound of all the chips I've considered buying, however I absolutely hate their designs. Although I suppose I could get them custom as well. I like chips that are smooth and easy to shuffle but not slick to the point they spin all over the place.

Some new samples I got yesterday. These are printed on Sun-Fly blanks.

I totally agree with the contents of this review.

as far as I know you can't buy from from anyplace in the US

I haven't seen them offered in the states, either. Mr. Chip's site offers free international shipping, though, so other than a few extra days in customs the foreign purchase shouldn't be much of an issue.

For the prices he charges, you can get nicer ceramic chips customized with your own artwork elsewhere.

I got my abc samples in the mail today and I have to say that I'm actually very disappointed. They feel very scratchy (not as bad as Scroll but noticable) and in terms of how they look I am unimpressed.

Of their customs I was possibly interested in one of the following 4 designs: Ultimate Poker Champions, both World Poker Series designs and Horseshoe Series. The one I was most interested in, and in fact I had my heart set on it, was The Ultimate Poker champions. Personally I feel that that chip, as well as those from both of the World Poker Series chips have a horribly faded and counterfeit look to them and really don't look very good at all. The WPS and Horseshoe Series chips look fairly decent but still not at all what I was expecting. Most ceramic chips I have seen have a smooth and shiny look to them whereas these look very dry and faded. I'm astounded how much of a counterfeit look these chips have.

Is this the norm for these chips? I pretty much had my heart set on the UPC series but if they all look like this then I think my search for the right chip will continue. Is there any other vendor that makes a UPC style chip? And also, would I be correct in assuming that the Boracay chips have a more natural ceramic, shiny look to them? Borocay sampling doesn't seem possible so that is a concern.

Or did the original chips the sets are based on actually look like this?

Yeah, at this point I'm pretty dead-set on ceramics of the design of the pic I'm posting, I just have to find a vendor whose ceramics have the smooth, authentic look and feel I'm looking for.
