I’m excited to share that Curious Cask is on the lookout for a passionate and enthusiastic member from this amazing community to review our upcoming premium poker chip set. We are looking for someone who is genuinely excited about creating fair, high-quality content, whether through detailed text, images, or videos.

• 5 Chip Trays
• One Steel Host Tray, for placing your dealer button, playing cards or personal items
• 500 Cash or Tournament/Game Chips, co-developed with Matsui
• A Steel Deposit Box for storing and transporting the chips + trays. It fits 39mm chips and can be used to store and transport even your cherished collections.

Could you offer a break down of the 500 chips (cash)? Typically you'd not be able to run a cash game on 500 chips, typically that would require 600, and a rack of 100s wouldn't be needed. Most of the hosts here would offer a .25/.5 or .5/.5 game.

It looks like a Vegas standard, are there any fracs? What color did you use for that? it looks like in one of the animations there is purple and green as well?

Too bad this wasn't an invitation to offer opinions / observations to the product development team. it is likely way too late to help guide the design - hoping that the result is better than expected. There are significant fundamentals about a poker chip product which aren't obvious to lay persons. We do have some very skilled poker chip designers here. They could be a big help.

I have doubts about the playability of the chips due to the minimal contrast between denominations. There are good reasons we obsess with edge art / edge spot and progression. The interaction with the various colors is a surprisingly complicated design decision. It needs to be plainly obvious when chips of differing value are comingled. Just looking at the marketing materials in the original post, I can guess that problems are all but certain when these chips are put into play. I suspect the chips are going to need to be redesigned from the ground up. Let's hope these are only the protype.

You can test this easily. Dump a thousand chips in a mixed pile and try to sort them quickly. Pick up a random assortment of chips and try to determine the value of the chips from the side. Make a typical poker pot pile of chips and again try to figure out the value of the pot at a glance. Can you look at someone's stack across the table and clearly determine a rough approximation of the value? Will the chips stack twenty high without slipping? Can you pick up twenty chips in hand and not have the stack come apart?

Try the same test with samples from a live casino. There is a lot to be learned from a single night's visit.

Hate to be crapping on the product. But better if we can help before the company drops $100,000+ on a production run. Please pay attention to your product reviewers / testers. -=- DrStrange

Thanks for all the feedback so far. We’re committed to improving the design and development of our product, and part of that is being transparent. We’re sharing prototypes to get real-world/ PCF feedback, and we really appreciate everyone’s patience as we refine the product. We’re also eager to see how our boxes hold up.

We know chip design isn’t easy—it’s all about details. And yes, even the five-year-olds in our studio helped test the sorting and stackability! Now it’s your turn to see how they perform—we know you’re excited.

One key feature we’re excited about is letting customers fully customize their set from 8 levels of cash and tournament chips. This gives you flexibility to tailor the set to your needs. Our single box is designed to fit up to 600 chips. We loaded 500 per prototype set because our CFO just introduced something called R&D budget control.
