I’ve been looking for gassers for about 6 months and haven’t found anything within reasonable driving distance (Akron is a bit far for me). Found these “church” chairs in Craigslist for $20 a piece. Should I buy them? Padding looks thicker than I’ve generally seen for standard banquet chairs.

Thoughts appreciated. I don’t mind the color.

They look nice, I'd see if you can get them down a bit into the $10-15 per range, maybe able to if you buy 10+.

At $15 or less I’d be a buyer for sure. Hard to tell if they are of any better quality than the chairs Sam’s Club sells for $20 each new.

I've seen them in person. I drove 40 minutes and was disappointed. Many of them had stains. Also look at the feet of each chair. Most of them were missing at least one plastic leg cover which leaves you with metal on floor contact.

I offered him $10 a piece and he accepted but after looking at them I passed. He also had these that I ended up buying for $5 each. I probably should have picked up more but I didn't care for the color of the frames.

Now it is entirely possible that he cleaned them up since Saturday. He also mentioned possibly taking the plastic leg covers and swapping them onto chairs that we're missing them.

I think these are the same brand chairs I have. I paid 20 each I think about 4 years ago and they are nice chairs, not Gassers but nicer than most of this style imo. I bought them from a dude in Detroit who had several hundred. He let me pick around ones with stains and broken leg bases.

I would pay 20 each again as long as I could pick out the ones I want.

Again I'm not trying to bash the chairs. I just didn't want anything that needed additional work. If you have a steam cleaner and a solution for the missing leg ends they might be right for you.

Edit: Also from my understanding, they we're dorm chairs for exchange students.
