Insane home game pot this evening. The flop makes two players' straight flush draws, and two players' sets. Unfortunately the drawers have each others' outs.

The player with the lesser set ends up making quads on the river. About $2200 scooped in this $1/$1 game!

Sorry to be that person, but the cards don't agree with what you wrote.

There are 2 sets on the flop, jacks and 8s.

There are two players with hearts in their hands, both with a straight flush draw but with the needed card in the opposing players hand. Turn makes another set, and river brings the lower of the flopped sets to quads.

Its both a straight draw and a flush draw, just not a straight flush draw.

The combined straight and flush draws can be confusing/misleading when spoken. Combining the straight and the flush into one term like straight flush is like calling a full house a pair-trips.

I suggest we call all straight flushes Royals . Not only would this end the confusion, it would put an end to the stupid "the royal is just a straight flush" debate. :cool

No one says they have a straight flush draw needing runner runner.
Yes, this was my primary disagreement.

But, I was totally wrong on the other issue I thought I had. I'm man enough to admit that I made a mistake. I completely missed the Jacks in the upper left corner of the photo, and thought he was saying that both the 8s and 7s hit sets on the flop. I apologize, and I'll try to be more careful next time I critique a post... :(

I also missed the Jacks. They looked like muck and I immediately discounted them.

Playground Poker. Great room.

Bad day - was flying to Montreal and supposed to land around 3:00. Flight got cancelled and ended up driving to Montreal.

Wasn’t going to play, but said the hell with it and hit the cardroom at 11:00.

In for $300, out for $470. Most from a $500 pot - set over set AI on the flop.
