Shuffletech ST-100 Review (3 Viewers)

Here is the side table that I made for my ST 1000. It has a metal locking cabinet below built into plywood. So far I love my shuffle tech. It rarely if ever jams with Copeg cards and it's much quieter with the rail foam inside. Hopefully it doesn't get too hot. I did drill 1" vent holes on the back side and there is a 1" air gap under the shuffler.

Here is the template. You have to router a 45° bevel on the underside of the 7.375 ends too. I would recommend using a scrap piece of 3/4 plywood as a test piece before cutting into a table though.

You could ask for a demo video of the machine shuffling cards.

I also bought one a while back, and the seller showed me the machine in action, via video.

Just picked up a ShuffleTech a few weeks ago.
I mounted it into an IKEA Bremnes rolling cabinet.
Added some sound foam and a couple usb fans.
I think it turned out great.
I ran a handful of shuffles through it with bridge sized cards with minimal issues.
I’d agree that I wish there was a better option at this price point, but I just don’t have upwards of $5k to spend on a Deckmate.

Out of curiosity, have you tried the 7 riffle setting? If so, do you find better randomization, and at what time penalty?

Ran with poker size KEMs last night.

Played for just under 6 hours and had two jams in that time - one that would had to reset the machine for and the other which the ST was able to resolve itself. All in all, acceptable for me.

Love some of the cabinets here. Definitely going to be a future project for me.

It mostly just knocks down the echo from the cabinet. But it is quite a noticeable difference. That was just some self adhesive sound foam from Amazon. I haven’t hosted a game yet , but I’ll report back in a few weeks when I do.

100% caution. I figured why not? They were pretty cheap. I hadn’t read anything in regards to overheating.

Curious about that as well. I didn't think these generated a meaningful amount of heat.

I have had a few of these other the years. One of the earlier models, I disassembled and lined the interior with dynamat (car audio sound proofing material). So it would have acted as a major insulator.

It eventually died, but I figured it was due to the plastic components wearing down. But perhaps it could have been heat related.

Update: hosted a game last night
Card size : bridge
Cards : Fournier WSOP 2012
Results :
•Experienced 3 fatal jams in 8 hours. Fatal jam = had to flash the power.
•Experienced a small jam where I had to open the lid and fix the cards about every 12-15 shuffles.
•Experienced one fatal jam that resulted in a creased card.
•All shuffles were the (7) full shuffle

Overall, I’m still happy that I didn’t have to shuffle and play an 8 hour session. I felt the randomness was there, so no complaints on that. Even though I did give the cards a good wash every time before put them back in the shuffler.
A little disappointed how often it jammed, but I’m not sure what I expected using bridge cards.
I feel like the shuffler likes stiffer cards.
I tried putting in a deck of casino KEM’s and it instantly started acting up.
I might buy a few set ups of poker size cards for nights where we just play hold ‘em. But poker size is out of the question for PLO.

This. Use Copaq. We only experience a couple of jams/night. Clean before and after every game

The biggest key is the cradle bracket that holds it, cannot be too tight. Once that shuffler is too tight, it won’t work. Kinda weird. But is what it is.

Only needing to reset the machine 3 times in an eight hour session, especially using the 7 button all the time, IMHO is pretty damn good. I would probably attribute the small jams to the bridge size vs the card brand, I use poker sized Fourniers in my shuffle-tech all the time and they seem to run the best of any setups I have (I really don't like Copags).

Not a fan of Copaq either, but they've worked the best so far. Love Fourniers, will give them a shot next time

Thanks for the review of the shuffler. I would love to have it for myhome game, but I'm on the fence. On a flush mount on a table, is it possible to insulate under the table to cut down the noise level? If so, what insulation is recommended?

Most of the noise is going to come out of the top of the shuffler once it’s mounted. I haven’t found a solution to cut the noise without obstructing the view through top. I mostly use bridge size cards with mine, so I need to see when it’s jammed.

This machine is air cooled. You can't just insulate the machine. You gotta build a box to mount under the table and then insulate the box.
