So it Begins... (4 Viewers)

Amazing quarter!

There are only two people on PCF that will not like this chip and I'm NOT one of them.

I know the last thing you probably want is a bunch of suggestions from the proletariat, but I'm hoping that different style means no clicking in within 1.4 nanoseconds to select a few chips, only to find out that one key chip is already sold out. It would be awesome if each person who does get a shot at this can assemble a full playable set. And hopefully there will also be limitations on purchase sizes so these mostly go to as many collectors as possible who want to keep them for their own use.

I would like to see something like a lottery to win an option to buy.

Matt and John assemble "standard" 1 table sets for sale, cash, high stakes, tourneys, ... and then the rest of us declare which set or sets we are interested in. They make a list of all the people interested in each set and randomize it. The top N people on the randomized list have the opportunity to purchase that set. Maybe they have the option to do a rack or two add-on? Guess that depends on how many chips they actually have to sell. I don't know, but yeah maybe? Either way, if someone making the cut on the list declines or does not close the deal in 24 hours, option for purchase of the set then goes to the first alternate. Continue until all sets are sold. None of this having to be at the computer at a certain date/time, no the fastest click wins. It's all pure luck of the randomizer and fair to everyone.

Just a thought?

I'm not aware that lotteries are banned. I've seen them in many for sale classifieds. You're thinking of raffles, where a lot of people PAY to have a chance to win something. Those are banned.

Wow. That is an awesome 43 mm chip!
One of the best.

@kk405 and @JeepologyOffroad I'm sure have a plan in mind.

Uhhh.
(In my defense, I’ve “publicly” never been a fan of the tri-moon)
Well I knew there was 1, but I assumed there was at least 1 other who chose to remain silent on the "controversial" issue.

(Also: A little bit of a rookie here, I was not technically sure those met the definition of a tri-moon) :ROFLMAO:

Ftr this project has been way more work than people will ever realize. @kk405 has done a fantastic job of steering the ship so far. Better than anyone could ever hope for. That said, it’s impossible to keep everyone happy. He’s not Oprah and there is no magic fairytale land where everyone is 100% pleased, but just know that no decisions were made by him without a lot of thought and effort.

I e said forever, it’s impossible to make everyone happy. You could take 100 random strangers, and offer each a crisp $100 bill. I’ll bet dollars to donuts that at least 10% of the people would be unhappy. Some would want more, some would want you to donate it. Some would think they deserve more, and some would outright refuse it. It’s impossible to please everyone. At the end of the day, you make sure you are happy with what you did, and that’s all that matters. I think you guys developed some amazing sets. Is every chip “perfect” for every chipper? Nope. Does it matter? NOPE.

kudos to you guys, really. You both should be beyond pleased with the results.

I'll pm you my address, I'd like one of those crisp hundred dollar bills.

The thread was going so well. I'd guess at this point it's probably not overly helpful for chippers to suggest how to sell these fantastic clay disks, but instead, plan on how to buy them.

I'm waiting to see the reveal for the process, but currently I'm looking at splitting ownership on a set, keeping some other fantastic chips local to help fund others' purchase of sets, or dumping my 2023 budget into just pulling the trigger on a set. If I can determine that we'll for sure have 2-3 sets locally to hit the felt, that will help ease my need to purchase. Hopefully a set can get into every state and country!

@JeepologyOffroad, not sure where this falls in the grand scheme. Do you know/could you share if you and Ken have already talked about/decided on allowing folks to purchase the use of the design for say a felt? This would be my largest purchase to date by 3-4x if I'm lucky enough to nab one, just thinking that the set would be deserving of a lil accoutrement.

don't worry Bay Area friends, I am hoping to purchase this set as my first clay set. Pending final prices of course.

I trust that you guys are probably agonizing over how to do something that is equitable. Whether I get the chance to own some of these or not, thank you for the most epic thread I've been part of since I joined this community.
