Running this 6 man tourney tonight.
500 BB Freeze-out(kinda).
Starting stacks:
T1-10
T5-8
T25-10
T100-2
T500-1(add on at 2nd color up or auto rebuy when bust).
Several newer players will be here so I am hoping this keeps them in the game longer.
Using the old Crystal Parks with the .50 cent chips subbing as bounties.
We will have it as a “turbo” with ten minute blinds and ten minute breaks for color-ups.
I am hoping we will end in 4 hours.
I will gladly take any advice or feedback on this plan and the structure I intend to use.
Cheers,
Joe

If I could get more people I could run 3 tables 200 BB.
On a starting T100 stack set of:
T.25-8
T1-8
T5-8
T25-6
T100 for color ups

Relabel quarters-200
.50-125
1’s-400
2’s-200
5’s-425
25’s-180
100-29
500-11
1000-11

Your structure with 6 players will finish in about two hours plus breaks (~ L13, 150/300). Increases vary from 33% to 100% (which is too wide, imo), averaging 53%.

Changing to 15-minute levels bumps total time to 3:15 plus breaks; 20-minute levels is 4:20 plus breaks.

Flattening out the structure (see below) typically runs maximum 4:00 hours (L16) plus breaks with 15-minute levels, with nearly all increases either 33% or 50%, averaging 40%.

L1 1 2
L2 1 3
L3 2 4
L4 3 6
break
L5 4 8
L6 6 12
L7 8 16
remove T1 chips
L8 10 20
L9 15 30
L10 20 40
L11 30 60
L12 40 80
remove T5 chips
L13 50 100
L14 75 150
L15 100 200
L16 150 300 **EOT
L17 200 400
L18 300 600

Using 14-minute levels with a 5-minute break roughly every hour generally runs no longer than 4:00 total time, breaks included. I wouldn't consider a four-hour six-player tournament with 500bb stacks a turbo, however -- that's a pretty good grind. When designing short-table turbos,, I'm looking at 2 to 2-1/2 hours tops, and much smaller starting stacks.

Cutting the stacks in half (to T500) and eliminating the first two levels in the structure above (starting at 2/4, or 125bb) produces a six-player event that runs 3 hours using 15-minute levels, while eliminating the first non-color-up break. That's the direction I'd go if wanting a turbo that still has a lot of play.

There is a reason you are the best!!!
Thank you for the time and effort spent on this. I will 100% take your structure and run with it. Feedback to follow through night after we finish!

Had a call out and a late start from a player so we passed on the tourney. Cash games for 3.5 hours went okay. Stakes were pretty low so we never even got the $5’s out. $20 buy ins with 3 guys in for $40 and two in for $50. I wish I could get a more solid set of players going but at least 3 of these guys seemed like we could keep them coming back as regulars.

I have never regretted the custom quarters I labeled for the Crystal Park set. Even though I have 125 half dollars. The quarters are just so versatile for these low stakes cash games.
At any rate.....
More posts after the next poker night hopefully with tournament feedback.
Until then,
Joe
