I thought about sandwiching the t-nuts in the middle of the rail instead of putting them on top. Obviously I didn't but was curious if anyone ever tried this?
I just threw a bolt into each T-nut (to keep the threads clean) and then filled on top with a high strength wood filler, sanded flush to top surface. Not sure if I would have even been able to feel the T-nuts thru the rail foam anyway, but the filler was already out and it wasn't much extra work...
I imagine that sandwiching them in the middle would work out fine.
So I've worked on this table a little bit each night after work and was to busy to post as I was focused to get this table ready for last nights game. Sorry, no pictures of the table in use but it did get used for the cash game. The guys loved it but I have some tweeking to do and some final touches that still need some attention.
Added the foam and ssc
Added some nice folding legs. Thank's for putting these on your table @ejot and giving me the idea to do the same, they are much nicer.
They cut my foam a little bit short and then it got even narrower so I couldn't wrap the rail exactly how I wanted to,
This is how I wanted to wrap it. (from one of my other tables)
But made it work just fine.
Wrapping the rail.
The almost done but usable table
I've learned a few things about making an elliptical table that I'd change if I ever built one again. This was my first time putting cup holders in the rail and first time stretching the cloth over the rail like this. There's areas that bother me and I might go back to touch up/fix em but overall not to bad. Guess it gets better with practice. Probably rushed myself a bit as well since it came down to a time crunch.
