Tales from the Hitching Post (3 Viewers)

Looks like an awesome nice, and great pictures, sir. I love this setup, it looks like you got a real good bunch there!

P.s. crack coffee!?

A New England favorite that can be sent from the coffee distributer overnight, then delivered by the mail person, only to watch them carry the box out of the mail truck, then as you drive down the street, the mail person puts it back into the truck (despite no signature being required) and drives away, thus making it completely unavailable for the entire weekend.

Strong coffee, cold brewed and served with Baileys. After consumption I actually saw through the backs of cards greatly enhancing my game.

Working with BGinGA to pull the Shuffletech out of the main table and fill in the hole. Brand new Chanman felt coming in as a replacement.

I clicked "Like" about 30 times.

How do you intend to fix the hole? Patch? Full-table overlay? Pics of the "repair" are required.

What are your plans for the Shuffletech? I see one on eBay has 6 bids and is up to $478, so all is not lost...

We have to pull it fully apart to know for sure but Dave intends to put in a wooden insert and possible more foam if needed. We may reorient the table portion so there isn't a weak point. Paging @BGinGA for a better explanation.

I plan to sell the Shuffletech and use the proceeds to pay for the felt. (And hopefully have some left over to pay for some of my other recent expenditures.)

Mending straps should work fine. I know you get some monster pots in your game but the mending straps should hold.

So the Chips for my hot stamp tournament set have been made and J5 has informed me we will begin work on the hot stamp design in the upcoming weeks. That means these chippies will need a home!

Chanman is taking his first stab at making a box for me working on approximating The Hitching Post boxes I currently have. It is his first time making a box and apparently the spalted maple is an absolute bear to work with. Here are some shots he sent me today of the new box in production.

Won't know for sure until we have everything disassembled, but I suspect a patch filler piece will be added to the existing table-top insert, then covered with new playing surface foam and the ChanMan cloth. Gonna try to rotate the insert 180 degrees so that the patched area is sitting on the base wood (for extra support). If not, then will have to resort to a plug brace, but it doesn't appear that there is a whole lot of overlap room underneath to mount it (maybe 3/4"-1" all around the shuffler rectangle). May have to cut out a larger opening, just to be able to properly brace it.

I'm sure Tom will be having a field day pointing his camera phone at my upside-down and contorted ass while we try to get everything taken apart. Big Slick used a variety of different fasteners under the table to secure the insert, racetrack, and rail..... including square-head screws (seriously?) and some funky figure-8/star hybrid head I've never seen before (neither had my hardware store guy). I'm taking my Sawzall just in case.... :eek:o_O:cool:

Square head screws, a uniquely Canadian invention, and superior to Philips in every way imho.
What about a router patch like a Dutchman on a table to cover the hole. If it's 3/4 plywood you could add a rabbet all around it and make a patch to sit on the rabbet.

Rabbet?

As mentioned by Junior24xx, the square heads are likely Robertson. The 8 star hybrid sounds odd...I've heard of Torx screws, but those are 6 pointed stars, not 8. That said, the appropriate sized Robertson may work. Pic?
