ALRIGHT! I play in a local game with older gentlemen, dealers choice no limit .50/.50 wit a $50 buyin. Fantastic fun, but crappy paper cards that mark and bend, dice chips, and tablecloth. Exhibit A.

At the end of last game, I mentioned a card that had a slight rip and I could bring some plastic decks, and one of the old players mention KEMs! I dont like KEMs BUT Im not looking this gift horse in the mouth, its an opportunity to convert some people. Host reached out and told me to bring some.

Okay. First thought is they're used to poker sized standard, just gross basic paper cards. We play lots of stud and draw games. Lots of cards moving, so I dont know if jumbo is the best choice. I already expect complaints because they're slippery and old dogs may have trouble shuffling them.

Ive got a ton of cards but definitely putting a premium on setups I can open in front of them, Im the young guy who keeps winning so I don't want to look improper.

Ideas:
Bicycle Prestige. Standard and poker, just like what they use BUT amazing feel and plastic.

KEMs, the poker size are jumbo and still wrapped, bridge are slightly used and standard. I dont know if these guys would like bridge cards, unsure if I should risk it. Thanks @TheJestyr these are great. Comes with extra name recognition from that one player.

Modiano, jumbo and a great feel and sealed. No name recognition but I can do the jersey thing, "Ey these are the good kind, I-talian". These might be a favorite actually.

Obviously got other ones. Dont want to scare them away by walking in with a bag with 10+ setups lol, so Im taking some time to plan.

Another option if I think they wont mind Bridge. Im worried about old hands shuffling plastic AND different size for the first time.

Definitely Bicycle Prestige. Once they admit that they like them, they can buy them at any local Walgreen's/ CVS / etc. drug store, and you'll never have to suffer old cut paper cards again...

p.s. Too bad your old guys are "gentlemen". I hate people like that...

Well - you know I will give my opinion - have lots of experience with playing No Limit stud and Draw games. and I know the "old guy" stuff. (I am getting to be one myself)

can tell you what I did in similar situation. Paper Cards - Regular index - poker size. Home game with "older guys"

I started to use faded spade - poker size - and there larger index - I forget what they officially named it.

reason -
poker size - they love poker size - that is all they know in live games "old guys"
Faded Spade - because they are stiffer than Kem and Copag - kinda like a stiff bicycle paper cards .
used the faded spade larger index - because it is slightly larger than regular index and slightly smaller than jumbo index, and - lets face it - some of those 'old guys" really need the larger index - they just do not want to admit it.

it takes time - especially shuffling - but these seem to work better than using Kems - which one said they did not like.

like I sometimes say - your mileage may very.

I appreciate these inputs! The guys are wonderful but scoff at any game other than 5carddraw/stud and 7card stud but will accept holdem. very set in their ways.

One player said he liked KEMs, I usually prefer a stiffer card. Faded spade poker size are just too loud for this crowd I think, leaning towards a classic feel.

Bicycle Prestige are only plastics that we've played with that atleast one person didn't complain... These are too slippery.
Well learn to shuffle on the table without flashing all the cards and dropping them wouldn't be a problem.
Can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink.
Atleast your guys asked for water. You have a chance.
I bring Denominated chips and nice cards along just incase when others host but the husband of the lady that always dumps cards is sure to pipe up that he wont play with those things. Gotta be worn out paper cards and dice chips.

I know! Im excited! Ill bring options but I think this covers that Prestige sre the safe bet. Ill bring KEMs because they were mentioned by name and jumbo, see if they like em.

Probably because he's heard of them. Id bet most people wouldn't know the difference between an assortment of plastics. More likely they don't know what they like yet. I've tried a lot of different brands before I figured out what I liked too.

I play with all guys younger than me.

They hated bridge sized - are these kiddie cards was the first slam

Even though they all play online, they totally dissed the four color decks

But…Jumbo index was a big yes because of how easy it is to see across a long table.

Another dislike that I do not agree with was the fonts used on Desjgn cards. I love the look, they hated it.

They like Copag, and now Broken Arrow decks which makes my wallet happy.

We've always played with Copag used WSOP decks here at work, just because we have so many of them here at work.

Although I've got a few Broken Arrow decks that I'd like to show them the next time we play.

I just got a setup of Faded Spade FSX cards which aren't horrible, but would potentially need a bit of thinning/less texture and they'd be great.

The problem is that they won’t. They’ll just complain.

So my suggestion is to go through all the plastics you have, and take turns with each deck doing the dumbest old man shuffles you can manage. That should decide your winner. In my experience, that means you need to avoid stiffer cards - you probably want flexy, textured, and used (if possible.) But like I said, shuffle like a dummy and see what works best.

Okay, I brought the bluetooth speaker that the host requested, might be the issue, lotta yelling over it.
