I hate when a major post ends up at the bottom of a page. So I'm going to repeat my previous post again here:
Texas Flood has sat dormant for way too long. It's time to bring this project back to life. In the 9 months since I last posted an update to the label design I have been trying to procure all the chips I will need for this set. But I ran into a few roadblocks along the way. It's damn hard to put together a cohesive set of casino used chips. All the chips I have seem to be of different barrel heights and that has me on tilt. As much as I love some of the chips I bought, I just don't think this set is going to come together. At least not now.
So what do you do when you come to a roadblock? You find a detour! And in my case, I think that detour is that Texas Flood with the SRV inlay is going to go on a custom CPC set instead of leaded used THC chips!!!
The other big news for this set is that this week I believe my wife and I have located our new forever home. Fingers crossed or say a prayer for us, but we will submit an offer tomorrow and if we are able to purchase this home, then Texas Flood Poker Club will finally have a real home. This property has a huge detached building that will be perfect for hosting games, something I do not have in my current home.
Next step is to get back with John and finish up the INLAY!!! (not label) design. And then I need to figure out how many chips I will need. Updates on the property will be provided once we have a deal.
In the last 48 hours I've been feverishly working with the CPC chip design tool, and I think I have a pretty solid lineup drawn up. Some of you may have seen this in another thread. I do need to see what these will look like with John's artwork on them, and I will think on them a bit to be sure it's what I want, but for the moment I'm pretty darned happy with these. So without further ado, here they are!
Top row - nickel, quarter, dollar, and $5
Bottom row - $20, $100, and $500 (why not even though I'll probably never use it)
Here's some background on how I got to these designs. The THC set was originally going to be all 312 edge spots. Then it started to progress some and I considered some 3D14 and 3T316 chips. But all the chips continued to have spots in "threes."
I decided to (mostly) continue that trend as I created this new set in CPC. Here's what I wrote in the other thread when I posted my first iteration of these designs.
Top row represents a nickel, quarter, and two different $1 chips.
The nickel reminds me of one of my favorite all-time chips - The Binions WSOP T25. Also, since the set will not have a $25 chip, why not use green for a frac? I love quarter pie fracs, and my favorite colors for a 25 cent chip are blue and pink. So why not one with both? For the $1 - sorry boys, but I don't like white as a base color, and I definitely don't like the standard CPC "sorta" white. Blue is already taken, and I have another set I like with a grey $1. The darker one almost gets me into the "black dollar" club, but the lighter one might work better since most of my base colors are dark in this set. (Note - I later modified the grey/charcoal $1 to canary yellow)
Bottom row is the $5, a $20 (I'm club $20) a $100, and just for fun, why not design a $500 that will NEVER get put into play?
I'm a traditionalist when it comes to $5s. Strong preference for red. Happy to get feedback on which red is best, but based on the design tool, I like the look of the Mandarin Red. (changed this to Retro Red)
Lavender and Arc Yellow are my preferred colors for a $20, so this one gets some of both. And like with the $5, I'm also traditional about my $100 being black. Since most of my spot patterns are in threes, I went with six on the hundo. The six spot colors are the base colors for each of the lower denomination chips, including both colors from the quarter pie. (the six different colors was reduced to three colors as it was suggested that it looked like a "clown" chip. I agree that this one is better)
For the $500 I think I like yellow. Since I won't make many (if any) of them, spot level is unimportant. This one seems like a reasonable progression from the $20. (had to change this up after using yellow on the $1. )
