So one of the guys in the Thursday Night League joined 3 seasons ago. About a year ago, he bought a new place in central Denver (just east of downtown). Last night was the first night he hosted; brand new table, cards, and chips he bought from me.
Anyways, we're having a good time, celebrating his "Grand Opening", and we're about 2 hours into our tourney. All of a sudden we hear a loud smash outside, and everyone is like "WTF"! One member quickly blurts "Someone just ran into a car!"
We're playing in the living room of this ranch-style home, so we are all within 10 ft of the front door. We all run out to find a mid-size sedan trying speeding off, with half of it's front bumper dragging on the ground.
Two members give chase, and one thinks he got the plate. Of course all of our vehicles are parked on the street, so we start inspecting them. One of our member's F-150 is pushed up on the sidewalk about 2 ft, and the front bumper, near the driver's side tire is all smashed up. We grab a flashlight to get a better look, and besides the body damage, the axl is bent, car undrivable. Our friend calls his insurance company, and the home owner calls the police.
The police come, and take a report. He lets us know, that they believe this is the 2nd "hit and run", by the same car tonight. About 10 blocks south of us, they hit another car, and the home owner also saw it, and jumped in their other car and followed them. The police run the plate, and the car matches the description in both cases.
Finally, the cop puts his spotlight on the damaged truck. It was on a dark corner of the street, and there was a piece of plastic jammed in the wheel well. When it was dark, we just all assumed, it was part of the lining from the wheel well. With good light, we could see that it was actually a piece of the front bumper, from the car that hit him. We pull it out, and see a part number & "Honda", inscribed on the inside. Anyways, we the damage done to their car, and all the info the police have on the vehicle, hopefully it shouldn't take long to get resolved. What a crazy night!
