Thanks for the racks of spotted Fitzgeralds $1s @TofuJelly
My long time dream of owning a Fitzgeralds set is getting close.

Here are the $1s with the rest of the set.
Now to find enough solid or spotted 5s & 25s to make this cash/tourney set playable.

Hook a chipper up!!

I know I posted the rest last week, but these new 1s deserve more set pron!

Beautiful! Can someone link me where I can read up on these 98 CDI chips (the history, why they’re special etc). I couldn’t find anything searching
It’s a fictional casino from Licence to Kill. I can’t remember the chips from the movie. I just remember huge plaques being used but somebody will no doubt have pictures.

edit: you can read about it here

double edit: huge plaques below

So the 98 CDI chips are from the set of that movie?
I don’t remember them from the movie. It came out in the late 80’s so it seems strange to make a set of chips 10 years later...

There’s bound to be someone on here who knows why they made those chips.

The CDI98 (or CDI2005 or BCC CDI) have almost nothing to do with the movie, EXCEPT that they used the crest from the fictional Isthmus City based on the original production design for the chip inlay. The actual Paulson movie prop chips do not match the colours or spot patterns of any of the CDI fantasy chips that followed. They only appear in a still shot in the opening credits of the movie, and were not used in any of the casino scenes proper. Only the very large plaques shown in the photo above were used on set to play blackjack in the movie.

Last Q about the CDI’s: I’ve read that the 98’s are sought after the most, is that because they’re older or better? if the 98’s are “better” than the 05’s then why is that?

The '98's aren't as leaded as chips made before like the PCA's, but they're still nice and heavy (10-11 grams each) and stack like bricks. Oh yeah, and THC mold. Much more durable in comparison to other RHC, house, or fantasy molds

Definitely THC, but they are also a lot harder to find vs the 2005's so that's a secondary factor. I have been searching for more $5's of the '98s for a long time, with little success. Finding $5's of the 2005's are not nearly as challenging.
