Things That Are Bullsh*t (19 Viewers)

International players, not subject to MAHA discipline, running over a goalie playing the puck in a game they are winning 5-0...

(Note the shovel to scrape the blood off the ice...)

A World Series game was on my bucket list... in the 90's, the Braves made it so often (and lost so much), I heard you could walk up and buy tickets the day of the game. I decided I was going to drive down in 2000 and see a game. The Braves last appearance in the Series was 1999.

I had tickets to Game 6 in Detroit in 2006. The Cardinals won the Series in 5 games.

I finally scratched this off the list in 2012, Game 3. Tigers lost and would be swept in 4 games.

Next up is seeing a team win the Cup. In 2008, I was at Joe Louis for Game 5 against Pittsburgh. The Wings were up 3-2 in the series and had the lead until Pittsburgh pulled their goalie and Maxime Talbot scored with 34 seconds left to force OT. Pittsburgh won in OT but the Wings won the Cup on the road in Game 6. I was 34 seconds from seeing the Cup lifted and skated around.

I am committed to going to the World Series home games in Houston this year.
Now the team just has to do it's part.

Some serious cow patties happened this week - I sold a bunch of stuff and my PayPal account was flush with money. And then it all disappeared. Because I bought a bunch of stuff...

I have a good one that's currently happening:
Smelling a stinkbug on you and not being able to find it :vomit::dead:

Being held hostage by an airline for 4 hours, on a plane, in the wrong city. Then the captain tells you "sorry, we've exceeded our hours"

At least I was able to snag a hotel room, in Austin, not Dallas.

Being told about a 40 player, $125 tournament with a $25 rake, then being asked...
  • to build a blind structure
  • to build a pay table
  • to bring the laptop / blind timer
  • to build him a table or at least drive to his place and help him build one
...and being told that he has Wal-mart chips. He doesn't know how many came in the case, he will get back to me so I can tell him what the values should be.

:banghead:

I think I'd suggest a change of venue. You're doing all the work, might as well get a big piece of the rake, too.
I actually don't want to get involved beyond information, and building a table. Since he plans to run the game weekly, he can spare some of the $52,000 a year he expects to make in a rake. I personally play poker for fun and oppose raking games except when absolutely necessary (dealers, security, and consumables).

I also don't plan to get involved in what I would deem a "raidable" game. (i.e. continuous, large dollar, and in a state with a history of raiding games of that size).

Why does he not just host a 30 person tourney?

Or ...shudder... does he want you to help build four tables?

The game he is taking over sits at 40+ people right now. He has 1 table, and wants me to build him one, plus a collapsable table, so he can eventually build one himself.

That said, when someone disregards advice like "start smaller, and build up" and "don't use dice chips for the tournament and the cash game afterwards"... you just slow down on giving advice.

Well with that approach he won’t need to buy many high denoms. They will work themselves into the game and that set will continue to grow

Finding out on Friday at 4:30 that Monday morning's production deployment had issues, but help desk didn't tell anyone

Think I've seen this guy before...

Days that start at 2:30am in an GYAoutofbedandgotoworkimmediate rush.

Why do servers & system air/enviro units always fail or go down at 1:00-3:00am in the middle of the night instead of 11:00am in the middle of the day?

This is just how they roll. I used to have a Carrier Aquasnap system that had perpetual problems with one of the flow sensors which would then cause the compressors and pumps to shut down. I can't remember this ever happening during the day; it always happened between 11:30 pm and 4:00 am.

I'm only allowed to purchase 2 tickets per world series home game during the pre-sale on Thursday.

Delicious cake and ice cream sundaes have calories....

they should be zero calories

Being part of the world series ticket "pre-sale" and only having SRO tickets available (at $250 each) regardless of game or quantity. The was no problem getting 3 seats for all of the LDS and LCS games and now there are only SRO?
BULLSHIT!
