Thoughts On Denomination On Rolling Edges (2 Viewers)

In most instances, I consider denominations on the rolling edge to be more of a design element that are there as visual effects, than they are as a means to determine denominations while chips are in play. At my age, I rely primarily on color and then on the denominations on the chip faces.

I bought some China EPT poker chips a while back with the denominations on the rolling edges. Thinking back I would prefer the EPT lettering on the side instead. The ones that I own almost feel like the numbering on the side of the chips would wear off after a lot of use. I don't know if others have that problem.

This is the link to my post:

I'll upload some pictures later when I get a chance but they are on the link as well.

Here are pictures of the China EPT chips that I bought with the denominations on the side. I don't think the denominations on the EPT chips are very common. These were bought from a local seller here in Southern California.

I don’t hate it, but am not sure why it is necessary.

People tend to determine chip values based on base colors and spots.

Anyway, across a table few will be able to read type that small.

It's something I like
(live chips from a casino in Porec, Croatia)

In the mock ups, they look like they would be too small, but the live chips, good size. Definitely darker colors though, the white text is hard to read.

Yes, 100% this.
And I think there's probably 50% of us or more who couldn't read those denoms in our hand, let alone across the table.
If it makes you happy to put denoms on the edges, go for it, 100%. But if you think it will make the chips play better, or make people like them better, I dont think that's happening.
