Oh don't worry, I don't plan on building a set.

Even if I did, it wouldn't be a mint set.

I guess the used chips would be cheap enough to build a set from.

I've decided to build a TRK set.

I guess mint chips probably would be better.

Those seem to be the most popular anyway.

We do 1/1 sometimes with either a 100 max or 150 max. My group prefers .25/.50 blinds. I do agree. The No limit games play almost the exact same. The Pot limit games only play slightly bigger pre flop.

Doesn't matter, at this time I currently don't have 1200 to drop on chips.

A frac is really only needed in a cash game if the max buy in is less than $100.

I'm only getting a rack for my custom set for the completeness of the set. They will almost never see play. The few times I do have a game of 25c/50c it is to try to get new cash game players into the group and they feel the small blinds make it a small game even though the max buy in is $200 (but I don't adversite that part so much).
 
I am not well versed in TRK, but I can't get over how awesome the Pick Hobson fivers are. And the fact that they are available in quantity from Spinettis is unreal to me. I highly recommend. And I'm sure you know this but make sure you call/email Mikko and ask for the price of chips in quantity instead of using the 1x price listed online...he has always cut me a deal.

I might even have an extra chip if you're interested.

Outside of customs I'm not much different. My Sunsets are 1.7 years old. The next longest set that I currently own is the PNY's. I've had them since NOV. The Fun Nites tourney set is about a month or so old and the Chipco limit set is 1 week old. Soon I'll be adding another custom set. The only sets that I could sell would be the PNY's or the Fun Nites. The Fun Nites would collect less than 400. I'd rather keep them. I will sell the PNY's at some point. I'm not ready to do that just yet. It might be my favorite set.

I don't completely disagree with you. 90% of our games are .25/.50 with a 100.00 buy in. The quarters do get used on pre flop and flop bets. Less on the turn and river. This is the structure that my guys like. I don't mind it. Does our game play like a .25/.50 game. Nope, its definitely in the 1/1 zone. Late in the night it probably plays like a 1/2 game. This is what keeps the guys happy, so its what I keep playing.

Plus, the Motor City quarters are so damn pretty I don't mind putting a bunch of them in play :)

"IF" I build a TRK set. I will eventually find some TRK quarters. It might only be non denominated chips or something.

Nothing wrong with non-denom chips. My TRK's have become my go to .25/.50 set.
Without causing a sh#t-storm thread jack, I'll say that All of my sets are non-denom, and nobody has ever asked if the red ones are $5's........

My $0.02 -- I don't think you have to worry about "do I have the money to buy the whole set right now". Unless you're basing your chip decisions on what is readily available from Spinetti's, it's going to take time to find the chips for sale! You're going to need to piece it together anyway. So select the chips you'll target, and get started!

I'll know more on whats available and what I need to search for after Mikko replies. I did tell him to take his time and reply at his convenience as I'm not in too much of a hurry.
 
The Jessie Beck no-denom black solids make a nice quarter frac, don't cost a fortune, and match up well with most TRK mixed sets:

I agree. They do look pretty good. I came across some on my google images searching earlier today when I was looking for any and all TRK pron.

Everything should be shipping this week. Since it doesn't look like I'll have the Bourbon set by the 23rd (just guessing) then these babies will see the felt a week from tomorrow. Granted, I don't have any fracs yet. I'll be using @mike32 black NCV Fitzgerald's.
 
I should have these babies early next week :)

The ones look to be in pretty good condition. The twenty fives were affordable to give me a playable set right now. Eventually I'd like to find a different twenty five dollar chip that flows better with the set. My bankroll needs to recover before I can even think about something like that.

They are actually metallic gold hot stamped with 25 cent denominations. Should still work well with set.

I couldn't remember. I think they will do just fine. Thanks for letting me borrow them.
