Hey guys, I know there were issues with Milano thickness a while back. Just have a few questions that I couldn't track down answers from old threads:

- it seems like the $5 chips were the major culprits. I'm thinking about pickup up a tourney set (25-5k), am I still going to run into major thickness issues?
- did later production runs fix the issue at all? Partially? I can deal with minor thickness variance. But if we're talking +/- 1 chip in a barrel, I'm definitely just going to go with a different CC.

First off, every CC set has issues with thickness eventually - even the recent CPS chips had issues to some degree. Height variations are simply an expected risk with CC's. With that said, Brybelly/Claysmith had a new batch of fives made within the past 9 months or so that eliminated the thickness issues on that denom, but you'd have to check with the various vendors to see which fives they're making available. As for other denoms, some were indeed thicker than others, but none so egregious as the fives. Can't remember off hand which were shortest to tallest.

Subsequent production runs of CC chips often seem to be thicker than the initial batch. Perhaps due to equipment wear, I suppose. Different colors also have thickness issues occasionally, but typically to a lesser degree.

Height variations are simply an expected risk with almost every poker chip type manufactured (except some ceramics and cheap injection-molded ABS plastics). Even high-end clay chips are not immune.

^ FYP.

The $5 Milanos with major thickness issues were all clearanced/discounted. Anything you buy now should be relatively decent. Yes, you always run some risk of height issues, but they did do a decent job of correcting the problem, and later runs of $5's seemed just fine.

As for the other chip denoms, just order your set and have fun, you should be ok.

For the record, I eventually ditched the $5's (not needed for a tourney set anyway).

My set had a height issue between the 100s and the 500s (fault to the 100s IIRC). Both stacks are 24 chips high, but the 24th 500 is exactly even with where the 25th 100 would go.

I bought the set from pokerchipswholesale.com, August 2013.

I have four sets of China clays now and I can tell you that minor thickness issues exist with all of them. Over a size of 20 you won't notice that many problems but if you stack 40 or 60 you will notice up to a chip difference sometimes.

Yea, that's rough.

My Milanos are all fairly close...plus or minus a half chip.

I bought Tri 's 5s and bought the majority from claysmith. Claysmith takes care of issues if you have any quickly and went q hove and beyond for the issue I had.

Wow these are actually great looking chips. I was/am set on the Majestics, but this looks pretty hot too.

The milanos I got around January were fine with height and size. My only issue was that I got sleeves of 50s where the denom on the label was printed black when all the rest have the brown/purple color. I noticed/mentioned it during a game and no one responded lol.
