Ultrasonic Chip Cleaning (23 Viewers)

Thanks everyone for contributing to this thread. I spent a good part of Saturday cleaning some Cincinnati chips and really only took about an hour and a half to go through 600 chips using the Ultrasonic. I did this work on the back patio so my wife wouldn't kill me and let it dry outside with some fans blowing on the chips.

It took me longer to oil the chips than it did to clean them! The end result is pretty amazing compared to how they were originally.

Now some pictures of the work.

My latest shipment of harvested Caesars chips had more gunk than usual.

Gave them a good bath in my Vevor 6L ultrasonic following OP instructions. Tumbled between 45s to 75s depending on how bad they were. Came out great.

Before/after of some 2s. The rest after. Do not mock my beach towels, lol.

Last time I used the ultrasonic following OP steps, some hotstamps were slightly damaged tumbling them for as little as 30 secs. Been scared to use it since. Even though I know labelled chips are safer, and I could've kept them in longer, a little voice kept saying take them out lol.

I will next time though, after checking the results and seeing all is good.

Anyone have experience using a US cleaner to spruce up grungy old acrylic racks? Use the same cleaning solution? Timing or temperature matter much?

Yes, I've thrown the odd old plastic rack in the ultrasonic bath between chip batches. Usually run about a minute or so. They do come out clean, but scratches are scratches.

Agree with this.. I have cleaned some pretty dingey, old, nasty racks and they come out much cleaner. If they are heavily yellowed, they will remain with a tint of yellow and the scratches are still very evident. Do not expect to see a clear, close to new rack. I was very happy with the results though.

My table can hold 936 chips. How do I know this? Because I just cleaned 935 of them.

The oiling starts tomorrow night, I suppose.

As someone who is about to chase after their first ideal set and strongly leaning towards CDI 98 I am very jealous!

What chips are between the 5s and 25s?
