I get your point, but as things go, TSP is pretty benign. I mean, yes, its major use is as a detergent, but it's also used as a food additive (acidity regulator.)

I’ve had my mouth washed out with soap several times so that didn’t worry me too much either :LOL: :laugh::LOL: :laugh:
 
I was mostly thinking of the report from someone in this thread that the TSP damaged the finish on their granite countertop. I’ve been doing my cleaning with it outside on a plastic table, and it’s hot as hell here, so I was happy to do something inside for a change. The wife would def kick my ass if I jacked up the countertop in the kitchen to clean poker chips. I’m already on thin ice as it is with my relatively new obsession. She just hasn’t figured out what to do about it yet. :ninja:

I have a 22L ultrasonic that'll be setup in a few weeks. Lol. I'm tired of barrels, gimmie racks!
I'm not kidding here, but are you sure that's going to be big enough for an entire rack? I can imagine that it's going to be harder to agitate the chips in that size, and if you dump in a hundred of them they're going to suction together.

I guess what I'm saying is that I think you need to live stream your first time use of it.

You should know by now, I can agitate anything at anytime......
 
For those of you who have actually done this, how much of a process is this going to be? My salad spinner and TSP came in and my wife said WTF are you doing now.

When I get a new rack in that's really dirty, I can usually set everything up, clean them, set them out to dry, and clean up the ultrasonic within 1 hour.
 
Two questions:

1. Can I just pour the dirty tsp water down the drain after cleaning?
2. How much do I have to worry about the tsp water destroying anything around the cleaner (countertop, walls, etc).

I think there are some people here who said there was a reaction between the TSP and their countertops. Personally, I never saw any kind of reaction and I was splishing and splashing all over the place. But after reading that, I decided to start using it outside.

Since your wife is already giving you side-eye over the U/S and salad spinner, you don't want to get into the dog house over ruining the kitchen. Best to lay out towels all around the wet zone.

Haha. My wife and my dog both give me side eye all the time. Haha.
 
Today I got a little U/S 2.5ltr with 60 Watt.

A few days ago, I got some really “Juicy” HSC 1s from @lewan , so I had the ideal test objects for my first cleaning attempts.

I had the chips in the U/S at 42 degrees Celsius for 1 minute, then cleaned them briefly with a sponge and finally gave them a quick finish with a magic eraser.

I am very satisfied with the result!

How long did it take you to clean 1 rack start to finish?
I need about one hour per rack. These chips were only slightly dirty. Really Hooker juiced chips need maybe also 75 minutes or more.

First I clean a barrel in the ultrasonic cleaner at 42 degrees Celsius. Mix here normal bio all-purpose cleaner in the water. Then I scrub both sides briefly with a sponge. Then take each chip again in the hand, rubbing both sides briefly with the Magic Eraser.
I stack the barrel, then take it as a whole in my hand and rub the edges with the Magic Eraser.

Finally, I rinse the chips in a bowl with clean water and dry them on a towel.

42celcius is the exact temperature I use as well. Next time you run a set I suggest trying a hypertonic solution of tap water, dish soap and a 1/4 cup or so of course salt. I cleaned my nasty majestic star 36mm with 20-30sec, toothbrush scrub, spray under tap then another 20-30 seconds for perfect results. The grimey ones were done 1 barrel at a time with individual scrub with a toothbrush and if needed a rag on the outer edge. The hypertonic solution will help draw the gunk out of the chips by osmosis plus also add a minor abrasive component. The toothbrush works well to loosen what is raised and rinsed off then finished off with the second cycle and rinsed again.

I'm hesitant to ultrasonic longer than 60seconds total due to chip wear/material loss. Old leaded chips (not seen in the newer ones) left a small bit of debris at the bottom of the tank like red dust (the chip colour of issue)

Know what you talking about. Had that dust too, when I cleaned the leaded Sterlings.

It's just insane how dirty the Majestic stars all just are. Absolutely disgusting. My 25s look exactly the same.

Off topic: which color is that? Melon or Peach or??
Guessing peach...not really sure.

The smell was terrible when I got them also. Thankfully cleaning them removed the smell, but I had to change the water after about 200 chips for the really dirty ones. I only have what was listed as the low limit set, didnt order cash chips. I looked up the town of Gary after getting the chips to see if it had running water..... economic issues and being a suburb of Chicago, possibly human hygiene may have not been top priority there (guessing/judging). Whoever boxed those chips deserved hazard pay.
