Has anyone looked into this? Maybe I'm missing something and UPS is better for heavier shipments, but a quick look at shipping a rack to Germany (2lbs) shows the cheapest rate is $130 before any discount. Even with 40% off, it would be $78. USPS International Small Rate Box is 'only' $35.

Darn, I first read this as USPS. I would never use UPS to ship to Canada as they always charge duty/brokerage and the brokerage is highly inflated.
