Variety or playability? (1 Viewer)

I'd rather have one massive set (and I do ...for 50+ people)... however I have a bunch of small sets for small groups just for fun (y)

I was looking for your definition of massive. I see that you state 1400 chips. I didn't think I had that big of a problem but given that my smallest set is 975 chips I might have a problem. Sorry I just remembered I have one coming that is 930 which will be my smallest. Good thing I think I'm done (until the next best thing comes along).

I like 1 massive set for utility. If budget is a factor this is the way to go too. But for the pure enjoyment of great chips I variety is great.

Match the set to the various games. Lower limit games can get more playful chips. Your higher limit games get the good stuff.

In this community, you'll find that price/cost is not necessarily related to face value. Many of us have paid $1.50 or more for 5-cent chips and $2 for quarters.

More sets and bigger sets: [ please note I am a novice compared to a number of other members here - just saying ]

This is the biggest set
full

But this one works for limit games

Santa brought this last year

This was my first

But not my last

And I still have others not pictured. All in all, I can run almost half a year without repeating a set. And I can run four simultaneous tables from $0.25/$0.25 to $5/$10 (not that I ever have played in, much less run a $5/$10 game - but I could if I wanted to do so)

And no, I do not have a problem -=- DrStrange

variety for me. I have 15 + sets and most are between 500-700 chips. I have never used any of them till the last chips

Good point.

I shouldn't have said the good stuff . I meant to be more stylistic oriented. For example, tikis would be playful and a crisp minimalist design for bigger games. Of course , those terms are relative to your players.

Easy, boff

pretty simple question. Would you rather have one massive set that covers every single game you could possibly want to host from one table of .25/.25 up to 2 tables of 2/5 or would you rather have 2-3 sets that have less playability

I have four sets.

Tourney set is 360 chips and can host a one table event. I am working on adding another 300-400 chips

My only two table cash set is my custom sunsets. I have 900 of those

My second cash set is my newly acquired PNY's. I have 663 (well the quarters are Motor City). I don't count the solid gray .50 chips. I don't plan on ever using them.

I have a chipco limit set that has 1000 chips.

I would like to add another cash set but I have to replenish my poker funds before I can consider that.
