Venerati Chips (1 Viewer)

The classic ceramics on the pokerstore.com are very similar not the same as the veneratis. The classics have a denomination on the side (see image) and the veneratis do not.

The set that I have I believe is from Sidepot (buypokerchips.com). Around 2018, Sidepot's manufacturer changed their printer and the colors changed with it. The set that I have is from the old printer so its tough to add on to. Its easy to build/add on to the new set but most people liked the colors better from the old printer. I'm sure it would be fine as long as they all look the same

I cant speak on the quality of the classic chips from thepokerstore.com as I didnt sample them. I think you get a great deal from them if you got the 600pc set for $160 ($0.27/chip). It will cover a wide range of stakes that you will want to play. I dont think you'll be able to add on to them as it looks like they are selling off the last of their stock.

Since this is a newer post about venerates, I’ll link this in case anyone is ever looking into these

I bought a sample set of the sidepot veneratis to compare them to veneratis that I recent got second hand. They still do not match up. I talked with sidepot’s customer service and they said their manufacture got a new printer in 2018 which has caused this issue.

The newer chips have a lot more yellow to them and aren’t as vibrant.

Also the classic ceramics on the pokerstore.com are not the same as the veneratis. They have the same design but the classics have a denomination on the side and the veneratis do not
Update: Thanks to @upNdown I now have the full lineup of OG Venerati's from Sidepot, thank you again! I talked to Sidepot about the difference in them vs the current samples and they told me they are under new management, working to restore the Venerati to its original color quality. They also said they have Venerati trademarked, so anyone else selling them is counterfeit

You got any more? (I'm not addicted...I'm not addicted...I'm not addicted...)

@mr11 Thanks for the info! I decided it was time to make my first real upgrade to poker chips for a home cash game. Once I started digging into it, I got kind of hooked—the collector and hobbyist mindset around poker chips really reminds me of the mechanical keyboard community. I feel like I lucked out with this set—it seems to hit the sweet spot in terms of quality for the price, and it just so happens to match the exact stakes I wanted to run.

@MikeMcDermott I looked into it—“Venerati” is the trademarked name owned by the company. The trademark only covers the word itself, and from what I can tell, thepokerstore isn’t claiming to sell actual Venerati chips—just chips in the Venerati style. It sounds like after Sidepot stopped selling them, the original producer may have started making them for others using a new printer (slightly worse output it seems), based on @mr11’s comments. Either way, I’m hoping the chips work out well for me.

I’m sure you’ll enjoy your chips. I stumbled upon this when I was looking hard for the OG Veneratis
