What’s everyone’s Favorite playing cards ? (1 Viewer)

It's funny because I just brought this up last night. By no means am I calling you out in particular, but have any of the Faded Spade detractors given their V2 cards a shot?

Their V1 cards were an absolute disaster. Warping, bowing, durability issues, you name it. If there were reports of them being susceptible to marking in any way, they would have been ostracized forever.

The V2's, while not my top choice, are no where near as bad as the V1's were. They're a new company on the block. Their product is going to get better with time, and the V2's are a very big step in the right direction. How long have Kem, USPCC, Fournier, Cartamundi been able to perfect their craft? Decades.

Yes, first impressions matter significantly, but I wouldn't write off Faded Spade based on their first attempt.

According to @Dix database, the V2s are still just about the thickest and least flexible cards in existence. That's enough for me. Let me know if that's incorrect, or else let me know when they decide to print their cards on decent stock.

if you go to eBay AU and search dal negro. There are some listed for $59.99 a set. These are from a re-seller who got them from my contact.

To be honest I haven’t had much interest in trying the 2.0s out for a few reasons:

1. As @upNdown stated, I’ve heard they are still very stiff. Early feedback was mostly focused on the new box.
2. I personally don’t like the artwork. My style is very much Desjgn which I feel are gorgeous cards
3. I don’t really like the company’s marketing or the owner. Something very disingenuous and cheesy about him IMO. Seems a lot of fake it until you make it behavior. They seemed to be giving these cards away to casinos to get product placement. If you follow their social media they make it sound like casinos are knocking their doors down to get their cards but, at least in AC Kems still rule the roost. I’ve seen Gemaco Superflex used in some AC tournaments but Kem seem to still be the overwhelming choice for cash poker.
4. When they first came out I posted on their Facebook page that their cards had promise but were far to thick to comfortably shuffle. They deleted my comment but then PMd me that they were designed with casino industry input to provide durability in card shufflers. Yet, all these years later I have yet to see any casino card room using them….so I call BS on that.

I haven’t played at Borgata (or anywhere in AC) since before covid so it possible. But as of August 2019 they were still using Kems. Harrahs also used Kems for cash but Superflex for tournaments. I’ve seen people post pics of Borgata tournaments using Superflex over the years as well….but also Kems

Edit…so I googled and found this. I’m sure they may have got them in for this tournament but they were definitely using Kems when I played cash there later that summer. This is the kind of BS I don’t like about them

Found this too haha. Maybe they were using them at some tables but it sounds like they caused some issues with the shufflers. May have to head to Borgata soon to investigate and report back

The burgundy/green were only made for about 2-3 years as far as I can tell. Any for sale is likely old stock. And to my knowledge, it's the only version made in bridge size.

While the pictures in the thread I linked above no longer appear, they were the same as @upNdown 's cards. I may still have those pictures from 2013...will check when I return home.

@Thomacetti @JMC9389 : Question for you guys and all the others regarding the Cartamundi BE stock: One of the things that put me off on the Cartamundi Bravos is the fact the edges are very square which is a problem for me when putting the deck together once the hand is over. How would you guys compare the edges of the Bravos with the BE stock? Is it similar? I hoping to hear a resounding NOOOOOOO!!! LOL!

I might be able to answer this with a very loud NO. The square edges are actually more prominent on the fourniers, cartamundi has very comfortable edges and picking the cards up or shuffling them is very smooth in my opinion. But I’m a rookie as far as cards, but just my 2 cents.

Fourniers are always on my card rotation (those WSOP Jumbos) and I never had any issues with the edges, or at least I don't remember having any. The Cartamundi Bravos on the other hand really annoyed me because of that. Glad to know the BE stock (and cut, I guess) doesn't have the same issue.

I’m assuming by BE Stock you mean the casino PVC version, with the red and blue setup. Those cards are good 2 go, the edges are very nice. I particularly loved the PVC smell when I unwrapped them and they’re still smell the same after plenty of games. It’s a soft to touch card and one of the highest quality in EU to find. However, sometimes you get bored of a card’s face and want to change it up, that’s why I got the Fournier 2800 titanium which is on the same level but the edges are square. They shuffle little bit harder but overtime I got used to it, the Fournier faces are very nice IMO. Good combo to rotate, and very long to last if you have a setup from each.

Hello folks, curious what everyone’s favorite setup is. I have both the cartamundi And Fournier titanium cards, kinda like both. The Fournier’s are stiffer and little bit less flexible than the cartamundi but they’re amazing as well. Cartamundi well, speaks for itself. They are an amazing brand, can’t complain about them. Never handled KEM’s or modiano’s…

i paid $6 + $15 shipping from someone who bought 12 setups and was nice enough to sell to me. even for $22 it was worth every penny. these are my go to cards for poker nights to come. what are your thoughts on them

These cards are really nice. My players loved them last weekend when I took a setup to a game at someone else’s house. I highly recommend them. Can’t believe I got 14 setups for $33 shipped. Awesome deal.
