It seems like Fracs are just always incredibly expensive.... are there any Paulson Fracs that are less rare/in good supply?

Supply and demand...
I’m relabeling over some other RHC’s I bought that contrast the rest of my HSI set. I’m in the same boat and just don’t want to pay $300+ for a rack that’s only used for blinds.

I think you mean cost-efficient. But there are none. Because most big casinos don't operate games where fracs are required.

This means that the majority of the Paulson fracs you see on the site are either older ex-casino or are custom-made.

The most common Paulson fracs that I've seen passed back and forth between members are the Motor City and MGM quarters. I think market price is close to $300 a rack.

Relabeling is always good (@Josh Kifer can help you with milling if necessary and @Gear can design labels for any chips).

If your set uses THCs then a lot of people use starbursts for fracs. Roulette chips can also work for fracs, especially when they come from the same casino as the rest of the set.

Genuine fracs can be some of the most expensive chips just because there are so few of them.

What's your set? Maybe we can offer some more specific suggestions.

DIY fracs

Here's an example of what @BonScot did for his Paris fracs. These were origionally Rio $1s? I believe, so can be harvested for $1 ea. Then remove inlays, get some Gear labels, and you have yourself some really nice custom fracs for just north of $1 ea. Can't beat that.

Currently building out my set and, silly ennough, was basing my set on which I could find complete set of Fracs for... I think the smartest move is to murder/relabel a cheaper chip to build custom Fracs. Thanks for providing the names of who to work with. Typicaly, what’s the cost per chip associated with the milling/relabeling process?

Are you doing the relabeling yourself, or sending off to get them milled?

No milling for me, I don’t honk I could emotionally handle destroying the original inlay of one of my chips
I just hit @Gear up and placed an order with him. If you check him out in the vendor section he lists a format on his FQA of what information he needs to start working on your order and he offers a variety of different label types. I ordered the thinner labels and am just going to place them on top of the original inlay.

Thanks for the info!! I’ll check him out.

Is this wrong ? Sacrilege ?

I’m working towards completing a small HSI cash set, and have decided to use CC Pharoah purple (500’s) as my frac. Chips are murdered, and I am waiting patiently in queue for labels from Gear.

i totally get it !! The purists would have nothing but Paulson chips, and lots of them, but for a game that I’m playing once or twice a month, it just doesn’t minke financial sense....

You should really murder, not mill just about anything except hot stamps. I understand milling is cheaper, but when milling you wind up removing clay/chip material that you don't when murdering. Murder winds up looking better. I know Josh will mill for 65c ea & Gear is something like $1.60 ish for murder depending on particulars.

PM me if you want. I'll murder for hire, lots cheaper....

Milling is murder! :P

Play $1/1 $100 max, don’t allow straddles. Saves a lot of money and or work to have a chip that is only used for the blinds in the vast majority of games.

after that a rack of Starburst solids in a non standard color (pink, purple, chocolate, etc) will be useful in just about any set.

I plan to use some non-denominational chips as fracs in a set, which is basically the same as starbursts. Not only will that work fine, but allows some flexibility as to what fractional denomination you will use it as from game to game.
