I saw @gopherblue's thread about the zippo lighter, and it sparked an idea.

What do you have that is pretty cool, that is not poker related.

I'll start with these 2 items
After my father-in-law passed away in 2014, we started going through some boxes of his. Most of the stuff was old and junky, but I found this gem in a box.

I'm in the process of finding a really cool picture of memorial stadium, and will have the ticket mounted and framed with it.

This past year, my parents decided to move after spending 40 years in their last house. They also went though a lot of junk, but my dad found this, and gave it to me:

My father severed in the United States Air Force from 1967-1969, serving 1 year in Vietnam. Part of that time was spent at Andrews AirForce base in Landover, MD (where he met my mom). As you may or may not know, AirForce One is stationed at Andrews, and my father had a few opportunities to board the plane. I don't know how the matches made it into his position, but I think they are pretty cool.

I have to check and see, but my dad's uncle used to race at Daytona, and he has an original NASCAR car decal. I have to find that, and I'll snap a pic or two.

What else do you guys have??

Damn that's cool. Lessee if I can top it...

I have an old overdue library book from when I was 12...

...and an empty Bic lighter from Speedway.

D'oh! You win.

I don't know about "interesting". I used to collect chess sets. The coolest one I had was a large medieval ceramic chess set. It was made in the 80's I believe. It was on display in the basement at our old house. It sat on top of the entertainment center. We kept a gate up at the top of the stairs because of the kids. My 7 year old daughter was navigating over the top of the gate when it came disconnected from the wall, tumbled down the stairs, and wiped out more than half of the set. Sadly I don't have any pictures of it.

I've gotten rid of most of my chess sets. I still have three or four even though I don't really play anymore.

An original Entry Card from the Casino Monte Carlo in Monaco, Dated on 04.06.1968 with the original Post Card from a Women to her Friend ( " Memories to Monaco " )... A very Lucky Found i think...:)

Nice thread Mark. I predict this could go on for many pages:)

I have a collection of 30 or so T-shirts, and flag-patches from all the countries I have traveled to,
and a collection of players cards from about 80 casinos I have played in. (Ok so maybe I don't have actual cards from all 80 but I have memories.)
That's it; that's all I have.

Very cool thread.

My grandfather worked for Rolls Royce all his life, including during ww2, prior to him enlisting - mainly aircraft engine design/manufacture.

No idea how he came by it, but he had a large Luftwaffe aerial photo of the factory he worked at (presumably to be used to bomb the crap out of it). Now in my possession, somewhere. Always found it fascinating, holding something that was very much a part of history.

I have many autographs that I accumulated by attending some cool stuff. Items include.
1. Autographed Eli Manning ball From the Super Bowl ("The Duke") given to me after they won Super Bowl LXII in Phoenix. along with two Locker room Gatorade bottles
2. NBA Seat back cover from the bench and when the Spurs won the 2003 Championship
3. Autographed guitar from George Straight
4. Autographed Willie Mays Jersey that he actually handed to me.
5. Gibson Guitar advertising sheet for a Gibson SG signed by Angus Young
6. One of the first issues of Becketts with David Robinson on the cover signed before he started to add scripture passages to his autograph.
7. About 3 autographed Tony Parker Jerseys and other items including two Super Bowl caps signed by all three Manning's while we enjoyed a beer together!
Any of these items can be yours for chips or cash!!!

I have a foul ball from Alex Rodriguez that I caught at a game in Seattle on a date about 15 years ago.

I've only caught one foul ball/homerun... Tampa, about five years ago. I guess I got one at a Spring Training game too hironically, the Yankees, also in Tampa). Lots of BP balls.

Since it's the French Open finals weekend -- I broke out my film cans (remember those?) of red clay from the very center of the center court (Phillipe Chatrier), and second court (Suzanne Lenglen) harvested during a visit to Roland Garros in 1998. We put them on top of the cable box while watching the matches, and it's just like being there. I make crepes, too, which helps a lot...

My son has a ball from Sammy Sosa when he was one of the two kids that were handing Gatorade and towels at home plate to the Home run Derby hitters. Man, how time flies! That was is in Houston back in 2004

I also have a serious horological itch. I've always loved complex mechical devices, and watches and clocks fit that to a T. I have a vintage IWC perpetual that I bought at auction for a song, which I love. Someday, before I'm too old to truly appreciate it, I'd love to have a haute horological watch.

My favorite interesting thing was stolen from me. When AT&T decommissioned the original trans continental trunk line, my dad was tasked with hack sawing off a foot to deliver to a museum (smithsonian perhaps). He cut me a 4" slice. I brought it to school (I was an undergrad in a math/engineering department) to show the other nerds. Was stolen that day while I was at school with it.
