Yep, this was around 2003. Chip redemption for Cache Creek THCs was announced late 2002 and house mold chips were introduced the following summer.

Are those red chip from The Palace still available? If so they're probably worned down right?

Nope. The Palace in Hayward switched to plastic garbage around July/Aug of 2021.
