What other things are you a "snob" about (7 Viewers)

The word "Snob" has a bit of a negative connotation, and as said before one particular thing to one person may be the best and to another its something else, and both may consider themselves "snobs"

I would rather say i'm particular about certain things. Call it snobbery if you like. :)

my list.... in no special order.

Beer - IPAs, DBL, Single, dry hopped, you name it.!

Socks - Love myself some Merino wool blend. Smartwool mainly, but Teko and Goodhew will do.

Camping Gear - Down filled (preferably 850)From sleeping quilts and jackets, to cuben fiber tarps and backpacks for hiking. I have way too many of everything in that department. And when i say too many, i dont think you quite understand.....

Coffee - Dunkins is on a lifetime ban for being so bad, Starbucks is almost on the ban too. I haven't had Dunkins in at least 6 years. If i was craving a coffee and you brought me one i wouldn't drink it.

Computers - I own a Macbook. thats it. And i think that makes me a snob, because why would you own anything else?

dam.. just writing that list makes me think i need to chill the F. out... :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

I agree on Mac's. I have a couple of Mac Book Pros and love them. I only have a Windows machine since my job only uses them. I am thinking of letting my 5 year old windows laptop die and hooking my new MBP to the server!

Pretty sure it’s a cheaper hobby than chips these days.

A few years back, I met my buddy Eric at a poker game, and we got to talking. He’s a watch guy, and he had a watch that was crazy nice. I asked about it, and made the mistake of asking what they go for, and his was $60k... that’s just ONE watch. Us chippers are nutz, sure, but not sure that we hold a candle to watch junkies,,

Yeah I concede defeat, although I bet a number of chippers here have approaching 60k worth of chips in their collections/hoards.

Yup. I am getting a freezer chest in the garage. Not just to make crystal clear ice in, but we need the extra freezer space. How do you guys make your ice? I was going to use filtered boiled water in Tovolo ice trays placed in a topless cooler inside the freezer with water surrounding the trays. Is there a better way?

Make sure you use and inertia dampening zero grav suspension unit to make sure no waves are generated in the cooling water. This allows it to remain liquid until it is well below the normal freezing point, at which time you can initiate crystalline formation when the optimum delta T has been reached.

That is almost snobby enough.

Some problems with many (most?) craft beers are: 1) They're not continuously available; 2) They're not consistent from batch to batch; 3) They do not offer balanced flavor profiles; 4) The definition of "craft" is quite arbitrary.

And then there are a few of the classics for comparison:

- Chimay Red and Blue (and other Trappist brews)
- Fuller's 1845
- Anchor Steam and Porter
- Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale
- Thomas Hardy's Vintage Ales

New Belgium and Ommegang make some fine beers (Fat Tire is not one of them). Celis, in Texas, used to be in their company.

I do admit to an insane lust for Green Flash Hop Head Red, but I justify it because my wife is a redhead -- and I'm not sure how many classify Green Flash as a craft brewer.

And in our locality, Tampa's Cigar City Maduro Brown is an awfully good ale as well.

Ah well, drink up!
Love the he Chimay as well as Ommegang and New Belgium. That’s a great tour if you ever make it to Fort Collins, CO.

The secret to clear ice is slow freezing. By slow freezing the air bubbles have a chance to come out of the water. Using filtered water or more especially boiled water helps as well but quick freezing ice will always result in cloudy ice. you can use a styrofoam ice chest inside your freezer and place the ice tray in it to increase the time it takes for the water to freeze. Cloudy ice = air bubbles!

I’d say beer and cigars for sure. Food as well. I hate when people have get togethers and people bring store bought premade food instead of putting in a little time and effort and making something homemade

Those laundry guys are awesome and you know it.

All things Fountain Pens (Goulet FTW!)
Pocket Knives

Climbing/outdoor/mountaineering equiptment

Because the Macbook keyboard (especially the spacebar) is not only just about the worst trash available, but if you spill, say, just -- literally -- one teaspoon of, say, red wine on it, you can trash the whole thing, unless you're willing to shell out ~$800 for keyboard replacement?

(Guess what happened to my Macbook a few weeks ago...)

Try a Lenovo. The T470s is nice 14" machine.

Been there, done that, several times. My wife went to CSU.

We also really liked Ravens Tale (Tail?) Ale and Existential Porter at Coopersmith's.
