Make sure if you're playing with any friends that you're playing on the same server. No transfer option just yet and can only have one character per server.
Would have to start all over if you wanted to switch.

Just saw it hit the news, Blizzard is taking massive scorn, because it seems to max a character in Diablo Immortal, it will cost $110,000.
So far, I’m loving it (on PC). I’ve heard that once you hit around level 35-40, there’s a wall where it is virtually impossible to move forward without a massive grind or pay to upgrade.
I knew the game wasn’t really “free”, but would rather pay $60 and get the whole damn thing.

I played it for a bit. I'd rather just play Diablo 2, 3, or Torchlight 2 w/mods.

I heard you can get pretty far without paying, but at top levels when you start min/maxing you have to pay. Top level gems are behind pay walls for example. Think I'll just stick to D2R since the recent update has opened up a lot more viable builds.

I can't get myself to pay for D2R. I played easily 500-600 hours of it in college. I just know it would be cool nostalgia but I'd feel bad having paid for it.

I get that. I played a crap ton of D2 and still play it off an on sometimes, so upgrading to D2R was worth it to me. Not a fan of D3 really, and even when D4 comes out I'll probably still find myself starting up D2R every once in a while.

Anyone else waiting for Half Life 3? lol

You know, I remember wanting to really love Half Life 2, but I absolutely hated it. The entire game felt like it was just one big tech demo for their gaming engine. And the ridiculous physics based puzzles to progress through levels grew stale very quickly for me.

Ah that's too bad. Did you like the original one? Garry's mod was a pretty fun way to play around with the engine too, but got a bit tiresome after too many hours.

Soo just picked up Resident Evil 4 VR with my referral bonus. They translated it so well to VR that's it's kind of mind boggling. Getting quick at switching weapons is about the only thing about it that takes some practice. You have to manually reload the pistol, pump the shotgun, and pull the pin on grenades. I used to be very good at the game, but I got destroyed in the first village ambush because I wasn't quite up to par on my grenade and shotgun abilities.

First time playing Call of Duty this week and already ended up on the MVP board. This was a huge deal over here if you knew how bad I suck at these games!

Daughter and myself were both waiting on pins and needles for Cuphead's expansion to drop today. I was able to play a little bit this morning before heading out to the office.

Check out the mad xylophone skills!

welcome to the club! what game do you plan to play first?
I've almost finished Astro, which was much better than any tech demo packaged game had any right to be. Other than that I've been playing basically nothing but Returnal. I decided to go premium, so I could get that and Demon's Souls without having to buy them. My PS5 was also the bundle with Forbidden West. So I have no shortage of things to start playing and never finish.

Yeah Astro was insanely good demo of what the conteoller can do. Demon's Souls was my first "real" PS5 game (actually why I tried for one at launch) and it was awesome. Now it's sadly more my kid's Fortnite and FIFA machine than anything. I really need to find something to play on it. Even Elden Ring I went for PC. Really, really hoping for a PS5 exclusive Bloodborne 2.

What are your thoughts on Returnal? I typically can't get into roguelikes, so I have passed on that and Deathloop so far.

From what I hear Deathloop isn't much of a rougelike. Just a story shooter with a groundhog day mechanic.

Returnal is def a rougelike. It has very little meta progression other than unlocking stuff. It's very hard. But very fun and addicting. With a really interesting story, and I'm still not even out of the first biome after about 4 hours. It rewards your skill more than the randomness. Though the randomness can make things easier or harder depending on what you find and your choices around things that give you perks at a cost.

fair point. goes to show my inexperience with the genre.

i actually just snagged a cheap copy of returnal off eBay, so we'll see how it goes!

Let me know what you think of a Returnal after you get it. I finally just got through the first Biome and the game really felt fresh.

It's interesting, it IS a roguelike. But the way they do it make it feel more mainstream. After running roughly the same rooms over and over, after beating Biome 1 and doing some Biome 2, when you restart Biome 1, things change a bit. Different rooms, new special rooms, etc. Plus you can go straight to Biome 2 without fighting the Biome 1 boss again.

Each Biome has spots I can't reach yet too. So after unlocking whatever it is I need to get that stuff, I'll find more items and stuff that will make me more powerful more quickly than in earlier runs. It's quite a genius way to gate progress. The further you get, the more stuff in earlier biomes you can access to power up faster.

For anyone out there that likes rougelikes and deck building games, I HIGHLY recommend Circadian Dice on PC. Very good design, very clean, very fun.
