What's for lunch? (2 Viewers)

I've never had carrots in Pho, but now I'm really interested in trying.

That sounds close to Pho. Pho has star anise, lime (optional at serving time), onions, cilantro for sure.

Here's what Pho is: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/228443/authentic-pho/
If you can find the spices it's actually easy to do at home, just takes time for the broth to become delicious :) If you have an instant pot you can make it in 30 mins.

Maybe it’s the anise that I’m smelling.

Since she’s Thai, and not Vietnamese, it’s possible she took some liberties with the recipe.

I was growing cilantro in my garden this year hoping to make Pho, but a late frost just killed it :(

Luckily, it's cheap. I have the bones in the freezer waiting, but something about cilantro fresh from the garden feels better. While I do have a one-pot, the smell of beef bones simmering for a few hours is one of the experiences I wouldn't want to skip.

I agree, the traditional method with a big pot on the stove is much more satisfying. The instant pot is about 90% as good but for me that 10% improvement is very noticeable.

Sushi on the road. :D

That's one thing I cant brave right now. Uncooked food for a health-care provider in the Covid world could be a death sentence.

I miss sushi :(

Me too! Even when we got food from Chuy's the other day we avoided the chips, salsa and jalapeno ranch. It made me sad to do that. The chips we could just heat up but without the salsa and ranch it wouldn't be the same.

Ranch would definitely be out, but I would like to think the acid on the salsa would be lethal to the virus (given enough time). However, I'm sure that has not been tested as of yet.

Yesterday afternoon I had tortilla chips that I reheated, but had a cheese sauce instead. Added cayenne pepper to the cheese for an extra kick. No photo of course, because I wouldn't want to admit that my whole lunch was just chips and cheese.

Saw them FoodTV the other day. Austin TX, right? Called tumble 22 because he tumbles each piece of chicken in the flour 22 times. No more, no less
That’s right! They opened a new location near me. It’s drive through only right now and the line while very long moves quickly. Their fries and Mac and cheese wasn’t the best but the chicken was awesome. Flavorful, juicy and crispy without being overly salty.

We need an Austin meet-up when this Covid thing goes away. Austin is a foodie mecca.
