Tourney What's the Deepest Run You've Ever Made? (2 Viewers)

Yep, slept around 4 hours/day, worked around 8/day M-F, pretty much all the rest was nonstop online play. Some days I didn't bother to sleep.

As I alluded to, I sorta look back on those early years of onlone poker and feel like I passed up a small fortune by not doing this... :(

The tourney I played tonight wasn't my deepest run. I've been trying to play the $10k GTD tourneys on Bovada pretty often, mostly just for practice. I've final-tabled a few with over 1,500 entrants and took second in one for just over $1400.

A bunch of people have mentioned bovada ITT. I have about a hundo there right now and haven't really done anything with it. Suppose I could/should, at least for tourney practice, etc...

How have cashouts been for you guys?

I won or equity chopped 6 out of 7 Sunday tournaments at the Wynn right before I moved back East. I wish I would have found that tournament earlier. $200 buy in and around 60 of the worst players.

Won tons of daily's all throughout vegas when I lived there. For some reason I don't play as well online, although I have binked a few there too.

Bovada is positively amazing on their cash outs. Seriously they will give you multiple options and their customer service is surprisingly good.

Their normal option is to do a wire transfer but they couldn't do it for me because somehow I am flagged in some database as a known poker player so my bank was blocking the transaction. They took my bank card number and instead processed it into a Visa debit card transaction.

Chopped the Vinny Lecavalier charity poker event at the Hard Rock for $5K+ a few years back - $500 buy in with about 250 runners + re-buys. It was fun playing against the hockey players - most of them seemed like nice regular guys.

Won a small buy in tourney at the Golden Nugget coming back from a single $500 chip. I survived 6 blind all ins before I started looking at my cards again.

Final tabled the nightly tournament at the Venetian three nights in a row - finished 2nd, 3rd, and 5th.

There's a local pro around here who crushes $10/$20 PLO on Bovada, says it's awesome and he's never had any problem getting $10k+ wires from them within a day or maybe 2 at the most.

I can't help but feel like if you do that though, especially for amounts like that, the DOJ is going to be coming for you sooner or later. You really think they're not tracking that somehow???

I cannot stress the following enough. If you are making withdrawals from an online poker site.

REPORT IT ON YOUR TAXES!

The actual act of playing online poker is a misdemeanor almost everywhere it isn't legal. If you get caught you pay a small fine and no worries.

Tax evasion is a federal offense. Don't screw around with it. The downside of being caught playing poker is way lower than dodging taxes.

Of course proper accounting for online poker is an absolute bitch but if you are making regular withdrawals it is worth it.

I have been fortunate enough to win @ $200.00 buy in @ Maryland Live with an $8,000 guarantee for $ 6,000 ....last year over labor day weekend....... I came in 5th in Event 1 for the WSOP National Championship Circuit Event in Cherokee for roughly same amount in 2015 ( still stings I should have won that too) .. Min cashed this year @ WSOP in Vegas for the $ 1,500 Monster Stack (by far best value for the money) for $ 3200 but my biggest cash and what really got my bankroll off the ground was a second place finish on Poker Stars for nightly $169 +12 which I made roughly $16,000 . Sadly I gave a bunch of those winnings back to cash games online ( a little to big for my britches in my late 20's playing 5/10 ) but needless to say I had fun and I was hooked. Still have it in me to make my first six figure payday.. I have only played roughly 10 live tournaments as I prefer cash games but I am starting to get real committed to tournament poker. If you have not been to the WSOP in Vegas I highly recommend you do.. Its a game changer to play beside the best in the world. You cant get better unless you can beat them.

They didn't arrest Al Capone on anything related to his run as a murderous gangster, they got him on tax evasion. :)

5-way chop of $120 buy-in 100+ person tournament at the Showboat years ago
2nd place at the Derby City Showdown IV at Club Courage -- 35? players

I binked a 65 person $80 NLHE tourney at the Mirage in 2009 (was offered a chop and told him to stuff it - also had 15 Crown & Gingers over the 6 hour tourney).

Binked the World Series of Clinton after loooong HU session with JM. 18 people.

Binked Derby City Showdown a couple years ago - something like 30 entrants, and had a very long 3-headed finale with a couple Canucks :-). USA! USA!

Won a couple of Eastern Poker Tour events and came in 2nd twice (~40 people per).

120 person live tourney at Foxwoods with Eastern Poker Tour featuring Chris Moneymaker and Darvin Moon. Was chip leader going into final table, and repeatedly refused ridiculous chop offers. Ended up going out 5th after going completely card dead and having the other regs gunning for me (semi unspoken collusion) after I insulted their chop offers.

Won a few $20 180 mans on Stars (maybe 3)

Won 2 larger $10-20 buyins on Full Tilt, 4k and 6k respectively

Binked BBotB5, 18-20 entries, handful of rebuys.

Boy do I miss FT and Stars on Sundays, wake up at 10, enter 5-6 $10-20 tournies with deep huge fields, nothing better

I hate when people get all up in arms that someone doesn't want to chop. Like, I don't mind chopping in certain instances, but there's been times I've refused a chop and wanted to play it out or wait for a more favorable chop opportunity. If one person doesn't want to chop, respect it and keep playing, it's not that difficult.

I won a main event at the Krafticus homestead once.

Went out fourth in my only WCB main event when a certain someone made a really bad all-in call with AJ and his jack kicker held up over my ten.

I've also won the Stud-8 AtLarge tournament, with 200+ pretty tough entrants. Finished second and third in two AtLarge main events, and one BARGE main event, all with a number of top pro entrants. Typically $1200-$3500 cashes. Half a dozen more BARGE and AtLarge final tables. All-ARG Player of the Year in 2011.

Lots of 8-40 player online tourney wins, but didn't (and don't) have the patience or interest to play the larger, multi-day tournaments.

I won my brother's buddy's 3 table tourney with rebuys 2 out of 2 times, cashed about $1k each time.
Won 2 of 4 daily tournaments I played in Vegas (Linq and Bill's)
Won a 1700+ entrant freeroll on some site back in 2005-6 that took like 10 hours and I won $170, decided to not do that again.
Won a 10 player sit&go to play in a $500 entry tournament in Aruba as part of the UB tournaments, busted out about 1/2 way, learned there were a lot of better players out there. My brother won a MTT on UB to Aruba - airfare, week hotel, entry into main event. I tagged along, met a lot of the pros, was a good time. He busted out mid field flopped lower set. Scotty Nguyen told him "that not bad play, that bad luck, baby".
Busted 50 of 50 at the S@PII, as predicted.

Honestly, I just have not played enough. Need to work on my tournament play, but this thing called life and responsibilities keeps getting in the way. ;)

Yeah I've never understood why this so frequently draws the ire of so many folks. It's like a personal insult to them when you don't want to to chop.

Not that this constitutes making a deep run, but I've been playing a lot of heads-up SnGs lately and haven't lost one yet. (y)

But I've also experienced the other side of this coin. I once was in a 50 player tourney, down to the final three. I'm sitting with 980k in chips, and the other two players have around 120k and 200k. It's late, and I've suggested a chop at 4 handed, and now 3 handed. One real bitchy lady got super mad at me when I offered up the chop at 3 left, the other lady really wanted to chop. The offer I suggested was very favorable to the other two players (I offered up way more equity than I should have). The bitchy lady was very rude (to both of us) about the refusal, acted like we were trying to rob her at the mere suggestion she take 2nd place money (she was the smallest stack). Essentially, both other players were getting a hair better than 2nd place money. The friendly lady got very annoyed with Bitchy lady, who wound up busting a few hands later (ha ha @ karma w/ 3rd place money). And an immediate 2 handed chop was negotiated. :) The 2nd place player told me she immediately started "gunning" for the bitchy player after she was rude to us about the chop offer.

Ya, who cares if people don't want to chop. it's their right. But don't be a DB about it. Just say you're not interested. No biggie. I can see if you're a DB in the way you refuse the offer, then sure, people will be gunning for you. Not to mention that YOU'RE the one standing in the way of a chop, and they probably want to go home! :)

just finished 11th in the Bovada 30k guarantee, out of 480 or so entrants. made a REALLY dumb calloff for my stack with pocket 6's vs preflop raising villain. board wasn't connected and didn't seem like it hit his range, but turned out it didn't need to as he had 9's in the hole, and they held.
Held the chiplead for awhile and was close to the next pay bump to almost $200.

oh well.

Hey! I was playing the $10+$1 buy-in $10k GTD tourney tonight! Lost when I got it in with AA vs KK vs QQ. K on the turn. (n)

Just got home... 4-way chop of my local 60 entry bar game... Netted $450 each. Promptly donated $300 to the cash game when I ran into a drunk lagtard spew-machine who had a horseshoe stuck up his arse... Played 45 minutes at the cash table before the bar closed up shop. With more time, the lagtard would have given me back my money. He had a standard raise to $42 preflop...

Won Krafty's 4-5 table tournaments multiple times. Don't play tournaments often in casinos, but one of the few times I did I 4-way chopped a $150 buy-in tourney at Delaware Park for $2132 (108 entrants). They wanted to chop 9 handed when I was the chip leader and I said hell no. Got one outed 7 handed that brought me close to everyone (AA<66 aipf case 6 on the river), then lost a big flip four handed (tt<aq aipf q on river) that made me the shorty. Battled back to close to even, and when we only had about 10 bbs each I finally caved, even though I was way better than two of the other players.

Biggest live tournament based on number of entries I have won was a weekly tournament in Casino Barcelona last year with 50 entrants. Just started last year to play a few live tournaments. Photo of me (right) and runner up (left) from their fb page:
