My first set was dice chips (mine had suits on them, not dice) that I gave to a friend. So no, not those.

But my first "real" set was a Craigslist find for 2000 or so Nevada Jacks in two birdcages with racks, and yeah, I definitely still have those. Always will probably, they aren't worth enough to sell, I'd rather have them that get what they are worth.

@Ben8257 still has his first set. Some OG "Las Vegas" slugs lol
My first chip set was a set of primary PCAs and they are with another PCFer now
Ben, you have to post some pics of that set. I bet they're amazing. ;)

I like how Brie's FIRST SET were PCA primaries. Just jumped right into the legit stuff.

/me stares blankly at my dice set

Ben taught me some poker basics on the LV chips lol and we joined the forum which abruptly led to buying better chips. So I was fortunate in the fact that I skipped the China clay and slugged chips stage.
We do still have a few sets of china clays, they're not the worst chips in the world. Monte Carlos and the casino royales. They were cheap enough we bought a whole bunch of em to handle literally any game lol

Mine were faux clay, and I still have a couple thousand left, but not all that I used to have. So technically, I do.

I just ordered some casino royales and plaques. Thinking about having a black suit poker event with martini bar.

I did not start long ago, but I do still have it…ROUNDERS CPC produced by Miramax for movie distributors in Europe. I was lucky I got to play my first poker games with real nice chips thanks to @horseshoez @Steppenwolf and @TKO ; therefore my first was a unique 1 of 30 in existence that popped up in 22 years (now I have also the 2nd that popped up).

My first set of "cool" chips, still ABS slugged plastic

better than nasty dice chips (which many locals games were still playing) anytime the family got together to play they would ask "can you bring the awesome chips" lol! Not a great breakdown as we always play tourney, but we made do with a T1 based 500 starting stack.

They sat untouched for years as life took me away from poker for a while. One day I decided to start teaching Brie to play, but we didn't play against each other. Many years ago I came up with a solitaire game I call "break the bank" basically structured betting against a ghost dealer. It wasn't long before we needed more chips because we were easily breaking the bank with 2 players. I went on eBay and started looking to expand the set...

Way too many denoms, used CPS China clay Nickles, another brand of slugged chips for quarters and $.50s. All they way to the right are CPS 25k. 100k, 500k and 1 Mil... what a mess this set was. The newer version of the "welcome to vegas" were not the same quality as the chips I had bought years before.

Talking to the Fam there was intrest in playing again so we decided to "up grade" to Monte Carlos Slugged chips

Again no I dea what I was doing, too many denoms and the break down was awful... kept adding on and now that set looks like

Kicked out the T10s and 50s... this set saw 1 - 8 player game... the return of poker to our family though...

I have always been obsessed with Casino Royale and Bond related things... I then found the 08 ABS slugged plastic Casino Royale chips. They were still here and there on a few websites for around $.50 per chip, but finding all of the denoms had me serching high and low.

This set is also ridiculous in size and has yet to see felt time. This was my dream deep stack set! Not all of the inlays mat h as later the same chips were used in a different line.

While hunting those I found pictures online of Chips that I didn't know what they were (Casino Royale) custom CPCs designed and owned by @Phantom ... I was obsessed! Sti hope to find a set one day! All of the pictures had been posted on some site called the "pokerchipforum.com so Brie and I decided to make accounts.

I at this point had seen several pictures of the 05 CDIs... but though now way am I paying $3 a chip for poker chips... I woke up one morning to a listing of 200 05 CdIs for about $2.50 per chip listed by @HawaiiChips ... I decided maybe I can build a small special occasion set... we all know what that turned In to...

We have slowed down, but definitely been a crazy roller coaster of emotions since joining!

Sometimes I wonder how life would be now if we had never found this place.. at least we would have money... but I wouldn't trade it for the world! Chipping is our life now, not that chips really matter. The Monte Carlos would have been good enough for our group for the rest of our life, but what an amazing group of friends we have come to find in the chipping community!

For the record, Brie mentioned China Clay above, I believe she meant ABS slugged plastics. the few hundred CPS chips above and a sample set of Royals are the only CC chips ever in our collection. Though we have added a few other chips along the way!! Lol

Don’t call them dice chips…

These are not sluggo’s and are older than some people posting in this board. LOL

bought from Straitpokersupplies.com in Toronto in 04?05? around then. I added the purple chips last year in a random find on amazon. Never got around to applying a label. This chips are invincible, clean up well in a bucket if need be. I have listed them a few times but shipping being ++ due to weight and the appeal they still have as potential roulette or label option chips they have just been kept as they are worth more to keep than their market value.

I did not buy green chips originally because one of our players at the time had vision issues and green chips could blend into the table. In hindsight I should have bought some regardless. I was more into a functional breakdown for ~30 player tournaments and also as a cash set. My group did not see denominations on chips until these chips were replaced with Pharaoh's. The Pharaoh's are sold but the Lucky Bee's remain.

My first set, a Christmas gift in 2005, was stolen from the back seat of my car maybe 6-7 months after I got them. The game I was hosting at the time (well...still am) broke early and a couple of us went to a nearby bar to close out the night. Got in my car to leave and found the thieves had rummaged through the glove box and center console and took the chips.

Not a huge loss as they were plastic sluggos, though the ones with the slightly softer material that made them less slippery and not so awful sounding.

After about a month, I found CT looking for options for replacement chips and as they say, the rest is history.

CC Pharoah’s 1200+ Pc set was first. Every denom… Yeah, still have it.

I keep thinking my 2 adult kids will get into poker and I’ll give it to them. Haha! IDK. Maybe I still have a sentimental attachment to them too!

Pharaohs were the chips that made me truly realize a world beyond dice chips were possible. I especially liked the non-denomination version which should tell you how unprepared I was to even learn about proper chips.

Yep. Still have the first set I actually purchased by myself for myself!!!!! (always played with chips provided by others)

full disclosure: the final chips in the set were purchased last week!

I sold my dice chips ages ago. But still have my first "real" chips from a ChipTalk group buy circa 2013... the CPS (Championship Poker Series) China Clays.

I sold most of them off over the years, abut kept a 500-chip set for the memories.

The first chips I ever purchased were actually clay. I was a baller back in the 90s lol. I picked up this "set", and I use that term loosely, back in the 90s from a store called George & Company, which is still around I think. My friend had an identical set. We combined them and used them to play with our friends. They're monogrammed with our initials. Always made for a pain in the ass at the end of the night when we had to sort them out haha.
