Why 5¢ chips? (6 Viewers)

It sounds crazy, but what a chip actually costs vs. a chip's value in a cash game isn't a consideration for most PCFers.
I play .25/.50 because those are comfortable stakes. But the quarters cost me around ten bucks apiece.

This player has just very beautifully articulated a subtle, and oft misunderstood principle that drives a considerable amount of commerce around here.

Raise.

Let's do....

Multiple reciprocal tariffs, international diplomatic intrigue, and impending thermonuclear war?
Why you talking about the 50’s again?

I think we’ve done pretty good since then. But the same people keep talking about the boogeyman under the bed. Be sure to duck under a desk when it happens.

$10 a piece? Please show the goods
They’re not particularly impressive unless you like arc yellow, house molds, hot stamps, or old leaded clay. But real casino fracs are expensive, and real casino fracs from Vegas casinos can be even more expensive.

I don’t know why everyone doesn’t use only nickels and fifty cent chips. Two denominations to handle anything except penny stakes. Lots of chips on the table. I could make a case for a $500 chip but that would be all.

People stealing 5c chips vs $5 (the largest demom I have) is going to piss me off either way. No randoms get invited to my game so that won't happen...

I admit that my nickles rarely get used as we usually do .25/.25 or 1/2 fixed limit now. My set was originally designed for .05/.10 or .10/.25.

Its hard to justify a 5c chip, with the rate that I host those stakes, once .. lol but I want to host a circus game with those stakes, and while I could with my THC set, $15 a chip .05s isn't really what I want to put on the table. I do play in a game about 3 or 4 times a year w/ .10/.20

This is the CPC set that I am expanding:

What I plan to do is have 2 types of non denom chips. Greens I typically play as .50 and so having a .05 or .10 would be nice, also I can swap in the pink for .50 and move the green to 25 if I need or put the pink in as a 2.5 if I'm trying to cover two tables. This gives me a lot of flexibility to cover some niche bank roles.

I really enjoy this set, and I can't imagine ever selling it, but if I do I expand my market by having a green 25 (even though its non denom) and a frac (pink) if someone were to prefer Vegas over Cali, the 5 (Yellow / Tiger) appeals to both standards and is a banger of a chip!

My chip break down will be:

100 x Pink non denom
200 x Green non denom
200 x Blue 1
800 x Yellow / Tiger
100 x Charcoal 20
80 x White 100
20 x IDidn'tSay 500

This is an evolution, and I really can't wait for my CPC order to come in!

I only have one set with a nickel.

Unfortunately, these no longer hit the table given my players aren't interested in those kind of stakes. We're pretty much all 25¢/50¢ or 50¢/$1 now.

Any future cash set I acquire likely won't have/need a nickel.

In my 5k/25k/100k/500k/1M set I take away the zeros and treat the $5000 chips as 5 cents... $25 buy-in kind of thang...

Versatile enough for higher stakes on the off chance I become obscenely wealthy...
