Remember, there's no guarantee that the chip can be restored to original condition just by pulling off the overlabel. Adhesive cures strong, and you can easily pull off the laminate along with the overlabel when trying to restore.

Oh, I didn’t realize that. Haven’t done one of them before. Hmm, that’s definitely an issue.
FWIW, I've heard of that happening maybe once.
Unfortunately, it has happened to me several times in one batch. I have since vowed not to purchase overlabeled chips unless I plan to keep them that way forever or I plan to fully and properly murder them afterward.
Cleaning them once a label has been on and cured can be a huge bastard. Leaves glue everywhere.
Sometimes, it'll pop right off. But I sold a rack for dirt cheap because I was so pissed at the glue.

Happened to me as well when I was removing these @Gear $20 Horseshoe labels from my $100 RHC Horseshoe Cleveland chips. Not sure if RHC are more prone to it than THC though? Fortunately I had spares so I didn't care.

I had nearly forgotten how beautiful the LCO $2 are. But really my favorite of the whole lot here remains the OCC $5
for mixed hotstamp project maybe? Between those, the Mavericks, the Embers etc I’m sure you’d be able to put a great set together 
I use @Gear overlabels on my Oceanside Card Club and I’m very happy with the result!

If you were to go with inlay replacement on the LCO $2s, that probably wouldn’t raise issues with anyone, as these aren’t Nevada chips we’re talking about. Imho label replacement is a cleaner solution than an overlabel job.
(I’d better get behind something to avoid the eggs that are gonna be thrown in my direction

Did you remove the HS quarter labels from the Binion’s? Any damage?
I’d be surprised to hear of it happening with textured inlays - those just feel like they’re made of stronger stuff. But those papery feeling inlays that are used today? (All conjecture - the only think I’ve ever overlabled were worn hot stamps.)
Hmm, I would have postured the opposite. I’ve never had a problem cleaning up a removed overlabel from a modern smooth inlay, but I would be more nervous about trying to get all the adhesive residue out of a textured laminate (but admittedly I’ve never tried).

Realized I had never taken photos of these chips I’ve had for a couple of months. Saying goodbye to one rack of them, as it gets traded to someone who really needs it to complete their set.
