Windwalker’s Chipping Journey in Pr0n0grAph1C Detail (17 Viewers)

What a blast it has been following this journey of yours @Windwalker. As and avid photographer love the time you take to compose some great shots of your sets. Ever had a Freddy's Steakburger? OMG!

A 1000 chip leaded THC giveaway! That's extremely generous. Look forward to it. Maybe do it as an international members only giveaway? :ROFLMAO:  :whistling: (seriously though, hope you'll allow international members!)

What's this Culver's place?

What's a Butterburger? Frozen Custard?

Oh... oh god...

Closest one is in NC. I can probably make it there by lunch time.

This is the greatest thread on PFC. why would anyone sell a THC set they won for free. The story alone makes them worth keeping. On top of that you get great chips!!

I would love that this give-away is won by a member that not has the funding to buy a set like that (ever)...but is a real chipper at heart.
There are members over here that joined our ranks many moons ago, always been positive contributers and had to cope with many other members being able to buy all the cool stuff...while not owning any themselfs.

Just to make clear...i'm not one of them.
I have been very blessed...and while I've been out of a job for 9 months, never bought more chips then the last 12 months (got to love a real social security).
It did made me realise that there are so many others out there, that have a struggle to keep finances in check.

Members that would win a set like that, would not think to flip it unless for money they really really need...and that would be understood.

But how ever you carry it Krish...it's a great thing you want to give back to the community.

Tomorrow is my 3rd monthiversary at PCF, and it got me thinking about grateful I am for all the new friends I've made on here, and the incredibly complex and beautiful world of chipping I've been introduced to. This community is not without its flaws, but at its best, it is giving, supportive, unselfish and so kind.

I've going to be doing a massive (1000 chipset) giveaway for my 1000th post, but am flumoxxed by one issue about it, and would love opinions. Is it feasible to stipulate that the set cannot be flipped for profit for at least a few months? I know the answer is probably no, and there's no way to enforce it, but it feels icky to think that a gesture like that could end up being flipped for immediate profit. Or maybe, I shouldn't give a shit :) .

Either way, look for a 1000 leaded THC chipset giveaway for my 1000th post!
Krish, very cool offer , but you don't need make it so big. Around here, getting one chip is special. And it's perfectly ok to stipulate non-flippers, just hard to enforce.

Where do you put it? Do you get a passenger to hold on to it, or do you leave it in the trunk/front seat when you're travelling in a car?

I leave it on a seat in AC and cover with blanket/shirt I don’t let the sun hit it. Buckle it up even or on the floor works.

WW My rents taught me water on a duck (no not mapes.)

It’s irritating for me at times still in life, but Pops always said “when you give it away you have no say.”

What ever that means

Sure, you can't really prevent something like that from happening, but you can put that person on the douche list, and they might easily end up on many people's lists at the same time. Goo' ol' lynch mob!

Nothing like a good chin check. lol. Douche list for sure, aka cutoff. I think in this case a prerequisite is deff in order.

After everyone's suggestions, feedback and some consideration, this is how I'll be doing the giveaway (some details are still murky, but this is the general construct.)

  • 1000 THC leaded chips, a full, colorful tournament set (to be revealed), worth about $2300.
  • Open to all countries, shipping included.
  • A strong stipulation against flipping for 1 year, protected by an ROFR for the cost of shipping. If the ROFR isn't acceptable, people shouldn't enter. ROFR only for 1 year.
  • Giveaway only open to members who have either 750 posts or greater.
  • First entry into the giveaway secured by "liking" the OP of the giveaway thread.
  • Additional entries secured using a points system that is a combination of trivia questions (some will have to be guesses) and a scavenger hunt through my 1000 posts. Answers to be sent via PM. Examples:
    • What town is my "on the coast" home in? +3 entries
    • Who did I first get into a public argument with at PCF? +2 entries
    • Who have I sent the most money to at PCF? +20 entries
    • Who have I sent the most text or WhatsApp messages to at PCF? +10 entries
    • Give yourself 1 extra entry for every rack of chips you have ever sold or traded me.
    • What did my hat say on Friday at MinneMania? +5 entries
  • 8 finalists picked at random from the entry pool.
  • 8 finalists play an online NLH tournament to determine winner of the giveaway set. Spectators will be welcome.
I expect it'll take me a couple of weeks to get to the 1000th post milestone. It'll be fun!

There will be a separate giveaway thread in the Classifieds section as my 1000th post, please don't PM me answers to the example questions above. :)

Oh, and my traditional "asshat" clause will stand.

That sounds like an excellent plan, well in the spirit of the forum and fellowship. Still quite struck by your generosity and enthusiasm.

What are the terms of "right of first refusal"? If I received an offer for the set, would I have to first offer it back to you at the same price I had just been offered by the other buyer, or at the same price you sold it to me for (i.e. free plus shipping)?

(... not that that would happen, of course. I'm ineligible to win the set, but if I did, I expect I'd be leaving it to my children. I'm still not entirely sure why anyone would ever sell a poker chip set. :) )

The ROFR is meant to prevent a sale for profit for a reasonable amount of time (which would be ANY price, since the set is free) and stipulates that for the first year, if you don't want it, I take it back and pay shipping.
