Windwalker’s Chipping Journey in Pr0n0grAph1C Detail (19 Viewers)

Good stuff. The book is a good read and your trip was basically the premise. When you said you went looking for an amazing mechanic with a middle deal first thing that came to mind.
Well, “find” is relative. I emailed him first, and went to meet him, with each other’s cell phones in hand. He’s a professional magician.

Dai didn’t even know where this guy lived, or his full name. I think a kid eating an ice cream told him about the man, who ended up being a blue collar worker who had figured it out on his own. What a time that was to be alive!

Are you confusing Louisville, Kentucky with Wichita, Kansas? Probably easy to do lol.

Was it Alan Kennedy?

Ha! If it were 1932, probably. :)

Alan's techniques were insane, and not really documented anywhere. Hard to find people to teach them to you too. I eventually got enough cred to get invited to a private YouTube channel where some of the techniques are shown, but I still couldn't get it. Finally paid for a session in person -- guy happened to be in Louisville.

But Alan -- still the master:

Yes, modern technology does help finding/reaching out. That was definitely a time full of wonder. Those guys were paving the way with sleights. It's a fun hobby as well.

Its pretty well done. Turner is definitely tops in cards and gambling effects. It's more bio than discussion of tricks, but you can get an idea of the amount of discipline and work it takes to get to that level.

Holy shit

Announcing: Giveaway #2

The holidays are coming up, and I wanted to do something fun / nice for the community, so I'm planning another really great giveaway, culminating in yet another community tournament, which @navels has graciously again agreed to help me host. Plus, all kinds of fun stats have been reached: 100,000+ views on this thread, 10,000+ reactions, 100 pages.

And this time, don't worry -- the gating factor will not be a quiz about my posts, but instead PCF and chip trivia. It will work similarly to the previous giveaway, and I think you'll be pleased with the spoils that await. (You can still enter without doing the trivia, and score a one-outer like @ovo did on the previous giveaway!)

Giveaway / prize revealed: December 7
Trivia Game Starts: December 11
Trivia Game Ends: December 13
Tournament date: TBD (week of December 14)

made my day

Love the giveaways, especially with the tournament. My only constructive request would be to make the tournament last a bit longer for donks like me (maybe a few extra levels earlier on?).
Yeah we were thinking of making it longer, maybe like a WSOP Main Event structure: two weeks with 3 starting flights, ~11 hours per day.
