faded spade 3.0 coming out (5 Viewers)

I’m interested in getting a poker-size setup. Anyone have any discount/promo codes?

Further update. I love them so much. They are my fav cards by far. The wife hates them though and loves my Modianos. She says they are too stiff and she struggles with her tiny hands.

TLDR; if you have tiny hands these might not be for you.

So your wife is smarter than you. Got it.

fyi - WPT works for $5 off, DEUCES worked for me for $5.50 off on one setup of 3.0s. $24.59 shipped.

Okay, so I’ll give my review. It’s really crazy how far people are away from each other’s thoughts on these. My opinion probably won’t matter much, because I’m a big fan of the 2.0s, and I know a lot of people hate them.

Mine are definitely more flexible than the 2.0s.

Mine are noticeably MORE slippery than the 2.0s (this really seems to be a dissenting opinion from most).

Artwork/color did not pop out at all in comparison to 2.0s.

2.0 > 3.0 > 1.0

Just goes to show that it's all subjective. Thanks for the review.

Some of it is subjective and sone of it is how we use the cards.
I read somebody (I think it was here) say that cards were too slippery to bridge a shuffle. FWIW, I’ve noticed the same problem with cards that have a different finish on one side and the other. So anyway, that may be true, but is it relevant to poker cards? Even though that cool bridged shuffle was how I learned, it shouldn’t be done at the poker table because it can expose cards. But on the other hand, I know when I host, some of my players do a bridge shuffle. And id prefer they be comfortable with the cards (instead of telling them how to shuffle) so it does matter to me.

But I digress. In my experience, you could shuffle the same deck two different ways and come to two different conclusions as to whether it’s slippery.

1000% this. I am one of those who bridge shuffles, sadly. Just never learned the right or proper way to shuffle for a poker game. All of the players I know, who are super casual, shuffle this way. So this is important to me as well, which is why the 2.0's were never gonna be a regular at my table. Too many explosions. I've yet to use these in a game, so while I may be able to shuffle them fine using my cave man technique, I need my limited amount of players to also be able to use them. Time will tell.

FWIW, I just decided to learn how to do a proper dealer poker shuffle one day. It was actually because I was going to my first meetup and I wanted to look like I knew what I was doing. Dumb, but it worked out. Because there are plenty of good YouTube videos that show you how to do it. And if you want to figure it out, you’ll get it in a few weeks.

Proper dealer shuffles are very difficult on a hard surface, but once you're on a good table with a padded surface, anybody can do them and look like an expert. A soft surface with a little bit of give makes them easy as pie.

Sad they don't make Bridge Jumbo index versions.

Not a fan of the 4 color decks but the color on those look great!

I compiled some Dix poker card database like numbers. I am comparing my 4 color Poker sized Faded Spade 2.0 cards to my normal color Poker sized Faded Spade 3.0 cards. For the pictures the 2.0 are red, 3.0 are green.

Deck weight: 2.0 134 grams, 3.0 138 grams

This is not surprising as the stock seems very similar feeling. Increased weight could be a combination of less rounded corners and additional added texture.

So, I just went downstairs and picked up a deck. Shuffled them in the air (meaning my hands were not on the table), Riffled, Bridged over and over. 1st time, I had a card slip. Did it 10 more times, no issues. Then I did it upside down, with no issues. Did it 90 degrees, no issues with slipping.

Maybe I'm just an amazing shuffler. YMMV of course.

Also, learning to do the casino shuffle is darn near invaluable. I practiced when I was bored. I can darn near shuffle faster than most people I know.

I know, I need to practice it, just for my own personal satisfaction.

we shuffle behind. I can get the cards collected, shuffled (7 times with 2 cuts) usually before the 1st card is dealt to all players at a full table. Definitely before the last card is dealt. I like to have it all done in time for me to look at my cards and act, without going back to the deck to shuffle.
