This is easily the best Irish whiskey I’ve had to date!
It’s complex, well balanced and drinks much older than 9 years. The abv is not even noticeable either. On the nose, I get a nice milk chocolate and Nutella note on toast with Honey Nut Cheerios mixed with berries. On the palate, it’s thick and oily. It’s moderately sweet but the baking spice really shines. It tastes like this homemade shortbread style cookie my wife’s mother makes called speculaas. It’s a Dutch gingerbread that’s not overly sweet and just a touch on the spicier side from the ginger and nutmeg. The ginger in the finish does not want to leave.
I love this! The current release of Gold Spot is floating around here now at $299 and I’m torn wether I want to find it lol

Had a great time with my buddy last weekend. Since we're both new to this, I had to remind him several times to take it slow and enjoy it... I think we've done almost 1/3 of the bottle of Glendronach 15. It was a great evening and the taste was very impressive.

1. Do you think the lower-priced Buffalo Trace allocated stuff is worth it? (Blantons, EH Taylor, Eagle Rare, Stagg)
2. How many bottles do you think you consume and purchase in a year?
1. I’ve been trying to find them out of curiosity and it’s been tough. Want to know if it’s worth it to keep trying. I’m willing to pay more than MSRP, but not double or more.
2. I’ve purchased about 15 bottles since November and feel a bit silly. I’ve drank maybe the equivalent of one and it’s a much larger amount than I previously drank. My lab work came back fine, but it’s still something niggling at the back of my mind.

I am familiar with the term dram, which has its origins in Great Britain and defines the quantity for an ordinary glass of whisky served in bars.
Nonetheless a question for the group: how much whisky do you usually drink in an evening? Since most people here attach great importance to high quality whisky, I assume that most of you consume a smaller quantity!?

I don't drink every evening. When I do have a pour. I measure out two ounces. I will usually have two pours.
I go through phases. I'm in the "I don't want to drink" phase right now, and have a total of 5 pours in the last 2-3 months.

I need to get my hands on one of these.....
I kinda go through phases, but on average for the nights I do drink, I'll usually have 2 pours on a weeknight and 2 to 4 pours on a weekend day/evening. It's fairly rare for me to just have 1. And my pours are usually a bit over 2 oz, unless I'm doing a specific blind flight and then it's closer to 1.5oz.

Green Spot 10-Year-Old Single Cask, Cask Strength started to pop up in couple of places in Europe. 180 pounds though! Ouch... So that means when they show up here in US they'll be over $200?

I've seen pricing on some higher end bottles come down a bit around here, but agreed many could use a haircut on prices.
Wow - 4 pours of ~2 oz each probably equals what me and my buddy drank combined.. I wouldn't say that this amount would be a goal for me alone, but hats off nonetheless :-D

I'm also 275 pounds and have been drinking whiskey for 25 years, so there's that. Lol and usually 4 pours is over 3-4+ hours.
