Royal Flush
Vegas joints averaged 9 million per year in parking fees alone. Parking is. Profitable. Shit unless you’re noir at MGM properties valet is $24
Curious what factors make you dislike it. I know you are a tourney guy, so is it just that or something different? From what I hear, casino cash games are super juicy these days.. Got my yearly reminder why I don't play no limit cash in casinos - blew through one buy-in pretty quickly.
It’s 100% the stakes. I’m a cheap bastard. A $100 tournament is my comfort zone. I don’t mind going up to $150 or even $250, if the structure is good. But that’s the most I want to lose in a day. And that translates to one buy-in at a cash table. And the game I was at yesterday, it was actually a short buyin (they allow up to $500 buyins at their $1/2, which makes sense with all the straddling.).Curious what factors make you dislike it. I also lack patience at no limit cash tables. It’s strange. In a tournament, with levels and a clock, I can be the most patient guy in the joint. So when I play cash at a casino, I’m working with one bullet and it’s usually scared money. Obviously I don’t do well.

Right? Because it can be pretty sketchy there. I was there one day when they were running a free blackjack tournament. There were literally homeless people lining up for it. I don’t want to sound like a classist ass, but yeah, I wouldn’t want to be standing around there with $10k in small chips either. When I cash out it's generally somewhere between $200 - $2,500 but I can't imagine what it's like to walk downstairs and wait in line at the only cage in the casino with over $10k in your hand.
Funny, I’m the opposite. I can’t stand tournaments because eventually I’ll *have* to do something, and I can sit at a cash table for hours just waiting for a good spot. And if a good spot doesn’t come around there’s always next time.I also lack patience at no limit cash tables. It’s strange. But at a cash table, I’m always waiting for something to happen, and I don’t have the patience to wait very long.
Foxwoods
From Marlborough, Encore is only about 30 min closer to you than Foxwoods. If your only goal is poker, 100% I'd go to Foxwoods for about a million reasons.Any other NH rooms with a longer drive? Or Foxwoods?
Nah parking is free now as it always should have been. They just make up for it in other places. LolDo they still charge $45 for parking unless you go play at the tables and slots and lose money there?
I loathed that property when I left MA in 2021. Being 20 minutes from a casino with free parking and reasonably ranked games is amazing. Being 20 miles and 40 minutes with traffic from a casino with a $10+ rake and shitty comps and parking and $35 plates of 3 chicken tenders is hell.
Yeah I only played there 6-7 times, and it was all tournaments, so it wouldnt have been in the first few months they were open. But that said, I never had to pay for parking.Nah parking is free now as it always should have been. They just make up for it in other places. Lol
The rake and expensive promos as so fucking disgusting. The floor is way unfriendly so table moves and stuff aren’t fun. Have to play aggressive for absolute piles to beat the rake. GL playing anything but the best hands unless you’re comfortable with 10x into 30x pre every hand because people try and take it down to avoid rake. Get stuck at a table with small stacks and profit goes to nothing because of the rake.Any updates on how everyone feels about Encore Casino Boston poker room/tourneys compared to Foxwoods?
Ok so nothings changed at Encore I see, any idea on Foxwoods? You prefer there? Less rake, better tourneys? The rake and expensive promos as so fucking disgusting. Mohegan best in the region.Ok so nothings changed at Encore I see, any idea on Foxwoods? You prefer there? Less rake, better tourneys?
@upNdown can speak best to NH rooms. I’ve heard chasers isn’t badOk so nothings changed at Encore I see, any idea on Foxwoods? You prefer there? Less rake, better tourneys?
Cash rake at most NH rooms is like $5 plus promos. I think it's a full dime at Encore.@upNdown can speak best to NH rooms. I’ve heard chasers isn’t bad

Gross.It is.
I haven’t played many tournaments up there lately and I never played much cash up there, so my usefulness is limited. But yes, I prefer the tournaments up north for their lower buy-in’s and slower structures. But that was always the case. Even pre-encore, you could always get a better deal tournament-wise in NH than at Foxwoods or Mohegan.@upNdown can speak best to NH rooms. I’ve heard chasers isn’t bad
Nice, yeah The Brook in NH expanding going back to 25 plus tables. It's was beautiful a few months back until they ruined it and added a few hundred more slots. All I’d say about Encore cash is that Bart Hanson regularly plays $2/5 at Encore and he seems to have the Dnegs more rake is better attitude - he seems to find those games beatable.
We should probably all be looking at Ballys Twin River. Maverick Gaming took over their poker room and the upgrade are nearing completion. Something like 30 tables with a capacity for double that for tournaments. And the promise for lots of tournaments. We’ll see.
Don’t get me ranting about the Brook. Between Seabrook and Hampton, they ran around 20 tourneys per week. They bought Hampton just to shut it down, then they stopped running their own tournaments.
