No problem, Ben and Jeff! Lots of excellent examples. Love the Steel City set.

i looooooooooooove those cash chips. if i could get a set in quantity, i would snap-buy. i don't even remember how many total were made, though. i was too scared about the BCC QC at that time to pull the trigger, but god that fire $5 is ridiculous.

There were around 3500-4000 total I believe. I have the biggest set (about 950, bought from Warewulf.) Ssanel has ~600 I think. The rest are overseas AFAIK.

yeah i might go on a mission one of these days to collect them up from you guys with offers you can't refuse ;) the issue is that i need at minimum 600 $5s and ideally 1000 $5s. that would be tough, i think.

While many have pointed out the great sets that did not make the Hall of Fame this time around, I will only say this: The Beatles were not inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the inaugural class. Just keep mentioning them, and when Tom is drumming up support for two new committee members, speak up. Say "Don't forget The Beatles Steel City again this year!"

BCC Laker Purple is the shit! Ben, you got a great set! Did courage have a cash set too?

I only have a sample set of the cash chips, thanks to Ben!

The SK cash set are lush. The $5 in particular is a stunner.

Like Jack, I was afeared that the qc at BCC was too ropey. There were a lot of disappointed customers leading up to that GB as I recall.

If if you go on my site, you can find the Steel City Chips under the custom sets.

Jeff,

Great resource for custom sets! Some of your scans/photos are a bit squirrelly color-wise, though.
One comment/correction: while I wish I had thought of the spot pattern/color combos, the BCC GCR set is wholly the work of Bluesman250 from CT, not me. Best claim to fame I can hope for is that I modified his T100 and T500 colors using darker, more vibrant base colors when we did a later group buy.

You must have at least 25 posts to vote in this poll... DOH!

While I understand the selection of the sets that appear in the poll was done privately, was there any sort of public nomination process at all? If not, perhaps that could be considered in future as it may help avoid any sets being overlooked.

ROFL

Obviously you aren't qualified to vote on this.

The point of the committee was to avoid this going around and around forever (I felt like the nomination process was the most unwieldy part of the greatest custom chip of all time. Maybe next year I will start a thread where people can lobby for sets but the decision is still on the committee.

I understand the need for the committee and I'm not questioning the process (I'm honored to have a hand in so many of the nominations!), it just wasn't clear to me how the selections were made. This has probably already been mentioned but by not knowing what sets were under consideration, it's difficult to tell whether a set was overlooked completely or if it was and just didn't make the cut.

this thread by Mr Tree started things off and asked for suggestions re: structure of selection, etc. i agree that in future years an open running thread where the whole forum could stump for sets would be a good idea.

i have to say, though, that no sets were overlooked. some simply didn't receive sufficient support among committee members according to the parameters set and previously explained in this thread. i definitely understand disagreeing with certain selections or omissions, but as with any formal process such as this, we felt it far more just and equitable to set a structure and proceed accordingly rather than predetermine which sets should be included and then reverse engineer the process to be sure that we nominate those sets which everyone understands are widely loved.

certainly every process can be improved upon and i'm sure that will be the case here. perhaps that means enlarging the committee in the future or opening the process in a way not yet envisioned.

i think every one of the sets mentioned in this thread and elsewhere as being forgotten by the committee was included in at least one member's list and several were the specific subjects of debate within the private thread. please don't think i'm taking offense to your wording, John - i just wanted to make the above clear so that no one thinks a set's omission is the result of inadvertence.

Let me look later and I will give you a full list of every set that received a nomination.

Thanks Jack, I didn't mean to imply that HOF worthy sets WERE overlooked, I missed most of this and just wanted to understand the nomination process. I'm sure this was quite a difficult task and I think you guys did a great job with it!

Thank you, but that's not necessary.

Looks like 11

Oh not an insult but I think there are DEFINITELY a sets that belong in voting that were not included. It is somewhat a sort of planned inefficiency on the committee's part though. We would rather

A. Have sets that didn't get nominated that should have but not have any sets nominated that shouldn't be.

Than

B. Make sure every set that should be is nominated but might nominate some that shouldn't be.

The thought being that I'm future years many of these sets will be addressed.
