2019 Custom Chip Set of the Year - ** BRACKETS ADDED ** (2 Viewers)

one thing i noticed is BTP has 3 seperate lines on the bracket but sunset beach has 1? doesn't sunset beach have a cash version and tourney version? just curious the setup for that one. or should they both be a single chip set all together?

People who spend 5k on chips do so because they love the chips, and I really doubt they need anyone to validate their feelings on whether or not it's worth it.
What would they have spent if the other chips were available? What if the other chips were available as Mint Paulsons? They spent the money because they loved the opportunity to own them. People that played on them will also love them, because a chip in the hand always looks better than a chip photo.

Just saying my piece, because the system is flawed. You can pretend it's not, or you can use the "it's all for fun" defence (I accept that as a reasonable defence), but if I were to lay odds, without looking at any chips or brackets, I would make the favorites the ones that were purchased by numerous members.

It’s all based on pron, the link I have posted goes to the “Sunset Beach” chips, where as the BTP’s all have separate threads with pron dividing them up. Not saying that is right, just the rational.

Totally agree. I don’t care at all if anyone else likes my custom CPCs. Paid what I wanted for a set I designed and love.

I think you are rewarding pron spam. No major objections but seems flawed.

Not enough pr0n in this thread

I'm voting for what looks the best to my taste. For a contrarian point of view, I bet there are a lot of people that won't vote for the NAGB chips because of all the angst associated with them. My honesty will tell you that I will have a hard time voting for the SB set because of the total douchebagery associated with it, but I'm going to try my best to not be biased.

Yeah, that seems flawed. If some sets are split out by cash/tourney (including different inlays), then they all should. My 2c, fwiw.

As Supreme Chancellor I officially declare this a drama free thread.
If you can't be drama free and have a little fun in a world that may not be literally fair for everyone involved then GTFO :x  :ROFLMAO:

Someone said "Sunset Beach" chips and sent me a link to a page with Sunset Beach pron, so they were added.
Someone said "BTP Cash" and sent me a link to BTP Cash chips, so they were added.
Someone said "BTP Limit" and sent me a link to BTP Limit chips, so they were added.
etc
etc

The OP clearly states there is no BS involved. If you think something is missing, post to get it added & add a link to the pron - it's that simple and that drama free

Also, we will not have a perfectly clean even # bracket, so there will be some Supreme Chancellor decisions on how that is handled, if you can't handle that drama free then see line #2  :whistling:

Personally I think the BTP chips are the best custom sets out there because if everything were equal and I could have whatever I wanted I would want a set of them. Its as simple as that for me. They are what I like to look at. Doesn't matter who made them or how they were made, or how many people own them.
I expect them to win because the most people like them.

Carry on .....

Parks and Rec for the win.... Don't make me get Ron Swanson after you

The back and forth about your voting choice is exactly what I hoped this bracket would result in. I want to hear what sets people like, but I also want to hear WHY they like those sets. And I also want to hear what people DON'T like about sets. I think the discussions will be interesting and lead to new insights from a design perspective that I might not have considered beforehand.

With NAGB chips, if I don't like them, or don't like the price, I'm not going to buy them. Same way with your opinions about chips. If I disagree with your opinions, I'll read them and move on. But I want to hear opinions. What I won't do is get butt hurt about anyone's opinion. That might be easier for me to say because I don't have a chip in the bracket.

It's pretty obvious that to @detroitdad, edgespot progression is pretty important. Others may not have even ever considered that And thus, people get new perspectives on chips. If DD doesn't like your edgespot progression on a set, I would hope he'd say why... Then others learn. And of course, if you disagree with DD on what good progression is, discount his opinion and move on. But the conversation is still worth having, IMO.

Everyone put on their big boy pants, get ready for lots of pron, and let's do this! Really great efforts by @bsdunbar1 to get this train rolling, IMO. I started with a 2020 thread because I didn't think there was any way to get to this point before the close of 2019. @bsdunbar1 proved me wrong on that.

Neither one of DD's customs has spot progression, one's a solid set and the other a 1/4 pie set. Not that there's anything wrong with that (have a couple 1/4 pie sets myself, and Butler's solid Clermont Lounge set is one of my favorite sets of all time). Just saying maybe he doesn't find it as important as you think lol

I think he was just using me as an example. I know a really good progression when I see it lol. I'm great at tweaking them. Creating one from scratch. Way outside my skill set. That's what @Perthmike is for!

If he goes with spots, progression is important, but I get what you're saying. Maybe he knows he couldn't pass his own edgespot litmus test and decided to be safe an go with solids and quarter pies. Lol.

The deadline is still Sat night, but here are the match ups if no additional sets are added.
Bracket was created with a random sort.
The # for each set is simply the # from the list when the set was added

There are some heavy weights going at it in round 1, but to claim victory you are going to have to battle a heavy weight at some point.

It’s almost cruel to put Motswari again Big Top Cash in Round 1!
