Question: In the last few years, how many casinos have added new THCs? Have any?
I see in recent posts almost entirely RHCs, ceramics or other non-clays, but maybe I missed some new THC release(s).
Is this because Paulson THC pricing is prohibitive, or because casinos are cheap?
I have a theory but that's all it is.
If you were a casino manager placing an order, would you care about the mold if it wasn't a 'house mold'? I imagine not.
One would think ceramic chips would be considerably cheaper to produce in quantity.
Casinos probably only care about 2 things: security and branding. The chips are basically a commodity - one the general public doesn't pay much attention to.
After seeing the situation at Paris, my theory that casino's don't care about design very much. 3 years ago Paris came out with awesome THCs with an inlay and we harvested the shit out of them... to the point they had to replace inventory only 3 years later. So this time around, they came out with
RHC hotstamps. I can only imagine they were chosen since they are cheaper to manufacture and less attractive to harvesters.
Same with the Bally's
THC $1s... when they rebranded to Horseshoe the new chips were pretty uninspiring RHCs.
I honestly don't know why the various molds exist... why is it necessary to offer RHCs, THCs, SCVs, LCVs, IHCs, etc.? I suspect RHCs are cheaper only because they're the most common, so the others cost more because of the additional fees required to switch molds.
Or perhaps the other molds are more labor intensive, require more raw materials or perhaps generate more waste in the form of rejects? I don't know.
