Cash Game .25/.5 Cash Game denominations (10 Viewers)

As stated above I run a cash game .25/.50 weekly with usually 8/10 players usually buy in ranges from anywhere from $20 to 50$, right now we use unmarked chips and was wondering what a good setup would be with how many of each chip, most of the time few people preflop raise but not sure how many chips ill need right now I was thinking

25c- 175
1$- 250
5$- 125
25$-25

anything I should change?

You'll want a lot fewer 25c chips. Since you have 575 chips listed, a round 600 chips I'd assume should not be a problem. The following are good numbers to get (with increments of 25s in parentheses if you cannot buy in any increments you choose).

80x (100x) 25c
180x (175x) $1
200x (200x) $5
140x (100x) $25
20x (25x)$100

You'll have enough for four (three if in increments of 25) $200 buy-ins per player, which is plenty for $1/1 or $1/2

For starting stacks in .25/.25, .25/.50, or .50/$1, use 8/18/x (5 of 8/18/x, 5 of 12/17/x if in increments of 25).
If moving up in stakes, use, 10/18/x or 15/17/x for $1/1 (usually preferred over .50/1) or $1/2.

I’d agree with everything above on starting stacks and that $2-3 of quarters per stack is plenty. An even 100 would work well. $1 is where you want most of the chips. Plan on at least a barrel for up to 10 players ie 200 minimum.

After that, it comes down to personal preference. Do you like massive towers of chips on the table (more $1), or do you like to see different denominations? (Fewer $1) What’s the “standard” buy-in at your game? How many rebuys do you see? (Maybe do all the initial buyin in $1 and rebuys in $5s…) How big a set do you want to get? (No right answer here apart from “bigger”.) How much cash value do you want/need the set to cover? (More higher denom chips)

My personal taste for game like yours would be 8x $.25 and 23x $1 for the min $25 buy in, topped up with 5x $5 if people go for an initial $50. At some point in the night I’d start dishing out $25s for the later rebuys because I like to see those chips on the table.

I do 2 racks of fracs but 175 will do it, 3 racks of $1’s but 250 will do it and your big chips are good.

This is to say you’re just fine.

I’m with you. If nothing else than simplicity in hosting. It’s super easy to issue out full barrels of quarter and $1’s (equals $25) then $5 chips for the remainder of the buy in. After initial entries, I do rebuys in $1’s and $5’s. And eventually $20 chips.. moar is better imho. And less is better, when it comes to counting out quarters for buyins.

I chose "good to get" instead of a personal recommendation because of the strong fewer fracs argument here rather than any personal experience (of which I have minimal). I've read every cash game/tournament thread since at least August so all of my knowledge is what has been posted since then. It all comes down to taste, budget, etc. I realized $200 buy-ins were feasible even with the quarters, so I went shorter on fracs so he could have enough larger chips to host bigger games later if he chose to.

This is my play also. Full barrel of quarters, full barrel of $1’s, $5’s for the rest. Works well.

You can get away with less chips but I too prefer to hand out a barrel of fracs & $1's to each. There's less players buying fracs off each other or making change.

Up to 7 players with $100 buy-ins I can hand out a barrel each of .25c & $1's with 15 @ $5's and still have $375 behind for rebuys. This works fine unless your game has lags & maniacs lol.

I used to give full barrels of quarters. Then I found it too annoying to count at the end, so I only give $2 worth of quarters now.

I used to do the same, but now I just give a barrel of fracs to the first 6 players and the last couple players can buy fracs from them.

Agreed on this. My home game is 10c/25c and the normal buy in sweet spot is $20.

I'd play for way more but my buddies are all poor and in college so doesn't help prolly will switch to .25/.25

It really depends how you game plays but count me firmly in the two racks of fracs camp.

Also agree with the folks suggesting adjusting your blinds, buy in may be a bit thin for the stakes.
