3D3P rack spacers / vendor no longer onsite? (1 Viewer)

He at one point had the.stl files up, possibly before vendor status, and I think they all got wiped when his vendor status lapsed. Wish I had saved them, now that I have a 3d printer and all. Would love some of the items and I could print for others as well.

Getting efficient would probably just mean getting more printers and offering fewer colors. It's surprising how long seemingly small parts take to print. I've been working on a roll up dice box (6 dice trays that wrap around a core) for a few days now. Each tray takes ~3 hours to print. I need to build a raspberry pi to run octoprint so I can manage it remotely. I already want a second printer just for personal projects

Oh man I didn’t know he was gone. I ordered Apache rack spacers last year? Two years ago? And they came within a month.

I placed an order mid March. Got a confirmation email and can see the order on the web site. I haven’t followed up on it yet since I figured it would take a while to fulfill, but this thread has me concerned now.

I saved files someone once link to that page, they are in zip folders so not sure how that works as I am somewhat computer illiterate with stuff like that. I figured I might buy a 3D printer one day to try and make some. One of the folders is for 39mm_universal_rack_spacer.

Not all heroes wear capes

I recreated the Matsui racks spacers model myself in a few minutes and spent a few printing sessions tweaking the model to print better and faster. They print slow, and take up a lot of space on the print bed - 6 per print on an Ender 3 V2 bed. That's 18 per day IF you can be there every 6 hours to clear the print bed and restart the print.

It's no surprise he fell off the map. He wasn't set up well as a business. Too much customization available, too many filament colors to swap, products that print too slowly, and models that don't orient well on the bed, leading to too much post print cleanup. There just isn't enough money in it without a full farm set up and building models that don't require a lot of post processing.

Yeah I believe Ben was a victim of his own success, especially for a 1 man shop. He got overwhelmed with orders and decided to shut it down rather than offer subpar fulfillment times (like said above 3D printing is slow). Great guy, i understand why he quit & his stuff is quality. I couldn't live without his RackStackers and Flattening racks.

I made a pretty big order mid Feb but haven’t heard anything since. Hopefully he’ll fulfill all the outstanding orders… got some racker stackers from him a while back and they are game changers for sure

I got the STL files for rack spacers and racks/lids, when I get back from this work trip I'll start some test prints and see if I can't help some peeps out. If anybody has other STL files from him I'd love to test those as well (particularly the racker stacker).

Anyone happen to get the STL for the rack flattening trays? Particularly the ribbed one for 43mm and 47mm chips?

Came decently close to replicating the design, but after 4 test prints I couldn't quite get it right.

Fit all the chips, but it was slightly too spaced apart to allow them to be picked up with a clamp.

I might I'll have to check next week

That being said, I do have STLs for the rest of the flattening racks if anyone would like.

I don't have a printer or the know how, but I was trying to buy the flattening racks for 39mm with the 43mm spacers between. If someone starts making some, I have money to throw at you for a couple of 20 chip racks (41 slots with the 43mm spacers).

I put an order in Feb for the stacker rackers. Trying to do it without them felt insane. I'll treat it a like a CPC chip order I suppose. Hopefully if he's not making them anymore he just refunds the orders.
