A Glimpse Inside the Goldfish Bowl - poker analysis, pr0n and random thoughts (3 Viewers)

Does look like it went well
But I think I like angry/ tilted and losing Goldfish more than winning Goldfish.

I know how to fix this.
Well I certainly was heading in that direction on the first night, but simple physics dictates that cream rises………my sweet spot turns out to be pot limit baduecy.…. Who knew?

I know the “is a hotdog a sandwich“ debate continues to rage, but at least one restaurant in my area seems to have picked a side…..

Anything from Roseda farm is amazing. I buy their burgers quite often and they better than any burger I’ve had in a restaurant. The steaks are money too.

Im going to get their dogs for my next game.

What time should I be there?

After over 2 years of collecting chips, I just recently focused the fragility of Paulsons as a real problem. I have accumulated a number of awesome (and expensive) sets, but the two sets that I use the most are now worn, dirty, and dinged up. I used my custom chipco set for well over 15 years and never cleaned them once. They are a little faded but still intact. Ceramics are a good work horse chip, especially considering the lower cost. CPC, Matsui, Bud Jones, Sun-Fly, cards molds, etc. seem to be good options as well.

My Paulsons, after only a year plus in play, look like the have been through a war. They don’t wear well at all. Currently, I continue to use only my animal house 1.0 and FLV sets on a routine basis (no turning back given their condition) given this issue. I only break out the other sets for special occasions or for PCF games (where I know they will be treated with respect). Point is, while Paulsons are really nice to look at when they are fresh and minty (and I will always love them), I am starting to think spending a lot of money on a set that will be used with any frequency is not the best idea.

Just something I have been thinking about recently. Am I just waking up? All thoughts are welcome.

If they started out as minty, any wear will seem like it’s more because you’re comparing it to the fresh and perfect chip.
If they were 10% worn and you put 5% more wear on them, it wouldn’t be as noticeable.

Paulsons are so nice but I will have to say CPCs are way more durable. I think they might be ideal for your heavy usage but still be very nice.

If CPC had more 43 mm options I would have a set already. I am having trouble committing to an A mold set. I like some of the other molds better but I need 43 mm for the e hi denominations.

I’m not the biggest fan of A-mold, but it seems like it would work well for an ‘Animal House’ themed set!

EDIT: doesn’t CPC also do a 43mm scroll mold?

I know, right. The A is perfect and the fact that I can get 43 mm is a huge positive. But the mold is not my favorite….. tough call.

I thought about making 44 mm chips for my set so the casino degenerates wouldn't confuse the white $100 as $1 chips. Unfortunately my set started with DSQ and the thought of mixing molds gets my OCD going.

I had the same thoughts after putting my Terrible's chips, in near mint condition, into play a time or two.

Used or well used Paulsons for the win!

I will say though, having played with more custom sets, especially ones that have seen a lot of play makes me appreciate CPC chips more and more. New and crisp CPC chips won't give you the same satisfaction as ones which are worn in with slightly rounded edges.

At first they seem too "hard" of clay in sound and feel, but once they are worn in they are butter!

I am not a fan of the scroll mold. I would rather do the A mold.

I agree combining different molds in the set would throw me over the edge. It all has to be the same IMO.

Interesting points. Curious to see some photos if you'd share.

So, I having played with my oasis casino (bud Jones) set a few times now, I have come to the conclusion that clay is better than plastic. While the BJs are really nice to look at, they do not compare to Paulsons, especially leaded Paulsons. My thinking now is, for the immediate future, to just continue using my FLV set as my work horse set and just live with the dings and dirt. #leadedpaulsonsrule. The next project will
likely be a custom CPC set, mostly likely the A mold (seems to go best with Animal House theme and I can get 44mm for high denominations).

After 3 year into this hobby, you would think I would be better about making chipping decisions. I feel like I flip flop a lot more now ….. relabel sets, no wait …. unleaded clay, no wait… leaded clay, no wait….plastics, no wait….. ceramics, no wait…. back to leaded clay, no wait …. CPCs, f#$k it …… just gimme some tigers.
